Hi I'm Susan

I am a grandma. I love to be around my family, especially my grandchildren. They make me smile. Serving brings me great joy.

About Me

I am enjoying this time in my life. Yes, I am still busy with many activities. I serve in my church in the women's organization. I also work about 15 hours a week in a bakery where I interact with many customers of varied backgrounds and experiences. Serving great cinnamon rolls is definitely a plus. My family is my greatest joy. I love being a wife, mother, and grandma. My extended family is very important to me. I love to work on my Family History. Learning about the lives and experiences of my ancesters gives me a sense of belonging to an even larger family. I love to read their stories. Their days were filled with the same types of experiences we all have. We are planning our first family reunion since my parents passed away 2 years ago. I love to sew, read, and play games. Right now our youngest son is serving a church mission and we miss him so much but are very proud of his courage, desire, commitment and testimony.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was eight years old. I remember that we lived close to the church and that on my baptism day my Dad and I walked hand-in-hand to the church. My parents were members and my Dad performed the baptism. I just remember that it was a beautiful day and I was so happy because I knew that what I was doing was right. My parents continued to teach me through their example and testimony. I realized that my testimony grew step by step over the years. I have found a peace and comfort that comes from keeping the commandments and serving others. I have tried to teach my children to follow the teachings of Jesus. We are all given our agency. Sometimes as a youth I would test that concept. My parents were very good to me. They knew that I needed to make my own choices. Just as I felt the love of my parents, I have now felt the love of my Heavenly Father. He is there for me. He has given me the greatest example to follow and that is our Savior, Jesus Christ. My desire is to follow Him and do my best. By reading the scriptures and following the counsel of a living Prophet, I know that I can find that eternal joy that He has for me.

How I live my faith

I begin each day with a prayer to my Father in Heaven. I have learned that I might have my own "To Do" list for the day. But, if I can pray and listen, there might come a name to my mind of someone I can serve that day. Sometimes I fill my days with so much, that the opportunity to serve goes unheeded. A good friend once told me that she tries to do one act of service a day and that blesses her life and that of her family. I believe it works. I love serving with the women in our church. I learn from them. We help each other as we strive to build each other in the gospel. I have a particular responsibility to look after three women in our church, helping them when needed and just being their friend. Quite often we are asked to help with activities and I have been able to organize and prepare meals for our youth groups... sometimes feeding 400 at a time. I love to help with the young children also. There is a genuine, unconditional love that comes from the sweet boys and girls. Each day I just try to do the best I can, reaching out when a need arises. Being a member of the church has brought me much happiness. I love it.
