Hi I'm LaMar

I live in Arizona and write software for a living. I love to backpack in the mountains and in the desert. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I some how discovered I was good at writing software, I have a degree in Fine Arts/Product Design but the draw of working out logical puzzles lead me to writing software for a living. This is a good thing because it lets me spend time with my family. My wife and I have five children all but four are girls. I love that they are teenagers now and we can spend time in the outdoors. We love to hike and backpack together. I don't follow pro sports too much but I like to watch the last few minutes if the game is close. I love to be happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon Family that lived the Gospel. Our home growing up was happy and full of love. My parents taught me work and serve, mostly by their example. As I learned the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the important role of serving each other, it has become part of me. I know as I follow the teaching of our Savoir I will remain happy, it is not always easy but I can relate it to backpacking and the joy I gain when I come to the top of a mountain and get to experience the view and our beautiful world. Many don't take the opportunity to backpack and they miss out because it looks hard. If you can commit to follow the gospel and live as Jesus did you will be blessed and see that life doesn't have to have so many unanswered questions.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to serve in many ways in the church but I feel I am most helpful with the youth of the church. I had great youth leaders that spent time with me, showed me how they found happiness in the their life by following our Savoir. Now I share my love of the outdoors and the physical challenges it provides to teach our young people that they can do hard things, and just because it is hard does not make it impossible. Often the hard things are the most rewarding. I teach the kids that they need to know where they are going or they will wander off and get lost. This is the feeling that I dread the most. Together we have traveled over some tough terrain but we knew where we were and we knew where we were going. I feel the same way about the gospel of Jesus Christ, It lets me know where I am and why and where I am going and how. I don't every want to feel lost. I know there are lots of ideas about life out there, but when I am confused I can turn to God, Our Father in Heaven and he will speak to my soul, I can trust that always.
