Hi I'm Cheryl

I'm a teacher and a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the LDS church. My dad was from a strong Catholic family when he first met my mom; while my mom was born and raised LDS. I am married to my best friend and we have been married for four years! My husband was raised Catholic but converted to the LDS faith when he was 10 years old. My husband and I currently do not have any children, however we have an adorable three year old dog that keeps us plenty busy! I have always loved teaching children, so after high school I went to college to become a special education teacher. I now have continued my education and will receive my Masters degree later this year! (whew!) As I constantly review my progress and life goals, I desire to someday become a principal or specialist within the educational setting.

Why I am a Mormon

As I mentioned in my "about me" section, I was born and raised LDS. As a child I loved attending church and I always felt that it was true. As I got older and headed off to college, I came to an important transition within my life where I could move to another part of the state and hide my religious beliefs and stop attending church, or I could press forward and strengthen my testimony since I was too old to simply rely upon my parents' testimony. As I entered college, my testimony only strengthened as I made incredible friends within the ward and served meaningful callings that strengthened my teaching skills. Attending a college where I essentially knew no one, tested my faith as I started from "scratch" to find and create new friendships with people who shared high values (almost all of them being non-LDS), make appropriate choices that align with the Gospel standards, and embrace the Gospel and all of the blessings that come from following the Gospel. Towards the end of my college experience, I met my husband and currently we both remain strong within the Church because of individual spiritual assurance that we receive every day.

How I live my faith

Within the Church, I have two callings or duties. The first calling that I have involves working with the missionaries and members/non-members of the Church. Since I never went on a mission as a young woman, I greatly appreciate and enjoy this calling as I am able to meet different people, learn about their life, and help share the Gospel with them. My second calling involves working with the primary children, which include children ages 3-12. This calling allows me to attend other LDS wards/buildings and meet with their primary teachers/children. I also enjoy this calling and the blessings that it brings me.
