Hi I'm Jeff

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student in my junior year. I love to write. I really like going to school. I guess it will end one day and I'll have to go on with life, but for now I like that my main focus is learning. I'm majoring in communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism. I love telling stories. I love the excitement of being on television. I think journalism is important, too. But outside of school, I really love sports. I'm a huge football fan, and I like basketball too. For the most part, I'm an average guy.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormon, and their parents were Mormon. But it's amazing how little that matters in this church. Of course it helped me to grow up in a house where the gospel was taught and where I had parents who I knew loved me, but life is hard. Sometimes we are given challenges and sometimes we bring those challenges upon ourselves. These challenges have tested my faith and continue to, every day. I would not be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints without my own testimony.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is an everyday thing. When I was younger, I liked racing up escalators. Going upstream against the current, so to speak. My goal was always to make it up to the top even though I had to run up faster than the stairs glided down. A great deal of the time my feet would move faster than the escalator, and I'd reach the top. Sometimes the top seemed too far away and I'd give up, stand in one place and ride the escalator down to my starting point. For me, this is exactly what living my faith is about. If we actively try to do what's right we move forward. If we become complacent and do nothing, we move backwards. Living my faith is all about progressing. If we don't progress, we fall back. There's no in-between.

What is the Law of Chastity?

Jeff
When people think of the Law of Chasity and sexual purity, they often only focus on one aspect of it- the physical. But when making the decision to be abstinent before marriage or faithful to a spouse, there is much more more involved than the physical. You have to think of the social, emotional, and relational aspects of it. If you sit back and think about it, the Law of Chastity not only protects you but helps you to fully enjoy the your relationship with a spouse. The thought of sexual relations to meet physical urges is correct, but incomplete. When thinking about it, we need to think about it in its full scope. We need to think how it will affect our relationship with our partner, our family, society, and God. I am personally grateful for a Father in Heaven who loves us enough to provide a path to true happiness like the Law of Chastity. Show more Show less
