Hi I'm Pat

I was a stubborn convert.

About Me

I am a native Arizonan that grew up in Mesa in an LDS neighborhood. Most of my friends growing up were Mormon. I grew up in the Baptist Church and didn't feel a need or desire to change religions. As I became a teenager I went to church less and less eventually going to church only occasionally on Sundays. When I got married my wife and I were not religious. My wife was raised Mormon but had been inactive for many years. We believed in God but didn't go to church. We did pray at night and occasionally read the Bible. After we had our first child my wife begin to suggest that we go back to church again. I really wasn't interested but agreed to consider the idea. I refused to go to the Mormon Church and she refused to go to a Baptist Church. We decided to try out some neutral churches. We went to several churches of different faiths but none of them felt right. My wife said she was going to go back to the Mormon Church and I said ok I will not go to church at all. My wife attended church for a couple of years without me and I didn't attend church. After we had our second child my wife asked if I would join her at church. I began attending church every Sunday with my wife for approximately 3 years without joining the church. I knew in my mind the Church was true but until I knew it was true in my heart I refused to join the church. The Holy Ghost confirmed to me the church was true in my heart and I was Baptized. It was the best choice I have ever made.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church after three long years of attending the LDS Church. I was very stubborn. This church was very different from my own. I had a hard time believing it was true. I went to church every Sunday and listened to the lessons. I studied the Bible. I prayed every night. I asked that I might know if this Church was true. I learned about this church line upon line and precept upon precept. The Holy Ghost conifrmed to me in my heart that this is the true Church of God. I was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It was the best choice I have ever made in my life. It is not easy. This church requires work. I have had many callings or assignments in the church. However I have been richly blessed as a result of these callings. The Book of Mormon says where much is given much is required. I have been given much. I happily pay my tithing every year. I have received many more times the blessings in my life in return.

How I live my faith

My current assignment is a High Councilor. I am responsible for overseeing the addiction support groups in our stake ( a group of wards). I have also had responsibilities for prison ministries in the past. My assignment allows me to work with wonderful people and help them in many ways. I attend church every Sunday and various meetings throughout the week. I also Home Teach a family in my neighborhood. This consists of providing a spiritual thought or lesson and often a treat. Our main reason for home teaching is to help this family with any needs they may have spiritually, physically, and sometimes even financially. I love the members of this church.
