Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up in Northern Utah. I've been addicted to books since the 2nd grade and want to be an author one day. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Northern Utah and can handle both the hot and the cold, but like it right in the middle. I love nature and the outdoors, but it doesn't always love me- I sunburn really easily. I love to read, spend time with my family and friends, and do random projects. I love getting to go camping and s'mores, ice skating, and just having fun. I really love learning, and so I love being a college student. The world we live in is such an amazing place! We can continue to find new things to see and enjoy every day!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know for myself that it is true. I grew up in the church, but we all come to a point where we have to discover for ourselves whether it is or is not true. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith did see God the Father and Jesus Christ, and that he was called as the first prophet in these, the last days. I have read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover, but even before I finished it, I knew it was and is the word of God. I see the hand of God in my life, and I know that He knows me even better than I know myself and He wants what will bring me and all of His children the most happiness- to live with Him again one day. And I know that everyone can know for themselves too, if they will read from the Book of Mormon and pray about it. God will answer each and every one of us, if we will ask with a "sincere heart" and "real intent". I am a Mormon because it has changed me completely, and I am forever grateful for the truth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to follow the commandments and my Savior Jesus Christ. It is something I have to work on every day! I love going to church every week and getting to interact with other members through activities and church, and just as friends. I have had the opportunity to teach classes at church, and to serve and work with other women my age. I let those around me know that this is a big part of who I am, and it is important to me. And if they want to hang out with us too, that is great!

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon, just like the Bible, was written by a lot of different people, or, to be more specific, by many prophets. It is a record two different groups of people that were led from ancient Israel by God to the ancient Americas. Just like in Israel, God called prophets to teach the people, and these prophets kept records. The last two prophets, Mormon and Moroni, abridged the records and compiled them into one book. So even though there are many authors, since Mormon did most of the abridging, it is called the Book of Mormon. A lot of people think that Joseph Smith wrote the book, but that is not the case. The Lord led him to the place where it had been hidden and helped him translate it into English so that we could have it today. Show more Show less
