Hi I'm Raun

I love the outdoors, playing sports, going on dates with my wife and spending time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up on a farm taught me the best way to plow a straight row is to look forward, not backward. I've tried to apply this principle throughout my life. My wonderful wife and I have been married for 26 years and are proud parents of seven children. I'm a purchasing manager in a high tech company and love working with innovative people. I also spend several hours a week serving in my church and community. In my spare time, I enjoy playing and coaching sports. I've coached several of my children's soccer and basketball teams. It's fulfilling to help youth develop the fundamentals that will help them in sports as well as life. There is always a reason to look forward - helping someone in need, fixing something that is broken, and best of all, spending time with those I love.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason why I'm a Mormon is because I love Jesus Christ. Although I was born and raised in the church, I gained my own testimony of its truthfullness over time. I can't point to a specific day or time that I knew the Church was true. It came line upon line, day upon day, experience upon experience. Each time I see the blessings that flow from obedience to Christ's gospel, each time I hear the living prophet and apostles speak, each time I really talk with God in prayer, each time I partake of the sacrament and remember the Savior's sacrifice for me, each time I read the Book of Mormon and ponder its truths, each time I share my testimony with others, each time I lose myself in the service of others, my testimony grows. I know now without a doubt that the Church is true, that God lives and loves His children, that His Son Jesus Christ organized His Church and taught His Gospel anciently and then gave His life for each of us. He was resurrected and lives today. I know that He has restored His church again upon their earth through a living prophet. And He did all this because He loves us today just as much as He loved those who lived 2000 years ago. Christ's restored gospel gives meaning to my life. It helps me know who I am and why I'm here and the the great blessings that await us if we follow His plan of happiness. It helps me want to do what is right and to help others. It helps us raise our children. It gives me the assurance that when I make mistakes, as I often do, I can change and be forgiven. And most of all, the gospel provides hope that life will continue beyond the grave and that we can live with our Heavenly Father again, as families, for eternity.

How I live my faith

I love coaching youth in community sports programs and seeing the joy they get from gaining skills and being successful. I also serve in the church in a program we call Home Teaching. We take a special interest in and watch out for and help families and individuals. I also serve as a lay ecclesiastical leader of several local congregations. It brings great joy to help others follow Jesus Christ and His gospel and see the joy it brings to them in their lives. Of course, I try to apply the principles that I teach in my own life and with my family. I am grateful for the opportunity to grow as I serve and help others do the same.
