Hi I'm Serena

I am originally from North Carolina, but have lived all over the country. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of four and a wife of an amazing husband. I have a bachelors degree in Communications and Family Studies. I have three boys and one girl, who was born with Down syndrome. I am an advocate for school inclusion for all children who desire it, regardless of their ability. I love to read, knit, sew and bake. I love living in Colorado because of the beautiful trails to hike and bike. Plus the seasons that are wonderful to enjoy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is the church of Jesus Christ, and provides the fullness of the His Gospel. I joined the Church when I was eight years old and right before my parents divorced. My father joined the Church shortly their after and my mother didn't want to have anything to do with it. I went between homes where in one I had loving parents who took me to church and taught me to be a good person; and the other that was void of faith and full of abuse. As I became older I investigated other Christian Churches, but realized that even though they each had a part of the truth, it is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that has the whole truth. All that has been revealed to man regarding who we are, where we come from and where we are going is taught in our Church through the Priesthood. I have a testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and know that Heavenly Father loves all of his children regardless of where they were born or what they believe. He will give all of His children the opportunity to hear his Word and follow his Son. We each have the great gift of agency (free will) to make that choice. I also have a testimony that families can be together forever as a family, that my marriage with my husband can be eternal.

How I live my faith

I have taught the young women in our church and have been blessed to serve them. I have worked with the Cub Scout troop through our church as well. I enjoy teaching the Gospel to young people and helping to instill in them an understanding of who they are, Children of God. That they are each unique and important. I love children with special needs and helping other children to see that kids are kids first regardless of their differences. I love to serve others.
