Hi I'm Courtney

I am a Certified Nurse Assistant, a writer, a runner, a Wife and Mother. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Of all my hobbies and passions, I find joy in fulfilling my role as a wife and a mother the most. I have two children, one son, and a beautiful daughter who died 20 days after she was born from Trisomy 18. I find peace and love in the gospel of Jesus Christ knowing that we will be reunited again one day.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I am convinced that it is the true church of God. I have read every page of the book of Mormon and I study the bible and I have prayed to know for myself if it is true and I have received a witness. Each day as I come to the Lord in prayer he continues to bless my heart and my spirit with peace and with a knowledge that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I am filled with joy as I attend my meetings and as I prepare and go to the sacred buildings of the Lord to commune with him in Prayer. When I feel like I am frustrated and need direction I can always turn to my Father in Heaven and he blesses me with comfort, with strength and much needed direction. I'm a Mormon because I can receive personal revelation about my life and my purpose here on earth! It's true! Why wouldn't I be a Mormon?

How I live my faith

I am a member of a great organization. I attend my church meetings and am prepared to participate in discussions about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I participate in interacting with the women who attend my building and have women whom I visit monthly to talk about different principles of the doctrines of the church. I just recently moved from Alabama where I was teaching the girls 12-14 years of age. We had discussions about being a good citizen and a family member, about Jesus Christ and about God and his plan for man. I love my girls and I miss them dearly!

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Courtney
It is a privilege to worship in the house of God and I try to dress in a reverent and modest fashion. I want my Father in Heaven to know that I am grateful to him and that worshiping is important to me. When I go to church I will wear a modest, knee length dress or a skirt with a nice shirt. I try to dress in a way that is not distracting to others or myself so that I can focus on listening to the holy ghost and try to learn from the lessons given in church. As members of the church, we celebrate only two religious holidays Christmas, the celebration of Christ's Birth and Easter, the Celebration of his death and his resurrection--or when he came back to life and conquered death. These holidays are sacred and special and times to reflect on Jesus's life and teachings. Don't worry though, I give my kids presents on Christmas and we still do eggs on Easter Sunday. As for other holidays, I really enjoy Halloween and I look forward to taking my children trick or treating. We Celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, Thanksgiving, Independence day...etc.. How can I know Mormonism is true?

Courtney
You can know the same way that I know. Read the Book of Mormon and sincerely ask to know if it is true. God will tell you in your mind and in your heart that it is true through subtle, warm and peaceful feelings in your heart. As you continue living righteously and following the Lord's commandments you will continue to feel these warm feelings of peace, reminding you that it is true and encouraging you all along the way. It does take effort. It takes studying. It takes prayer. But God will answer. He loves you. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is truly the church of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
