Hi I'm Adam

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Florida. I love being a member of this church.

About Me

I identify with becoming a renaissance man -- a life long pursuit of learning, becoming, and doing across many fields of interest. Music, science, writing, history, grammar . . . all of these and other topics capture my interest. My three great passions as a child were classical music, especially the Second Piano Concerto of Russian composer and pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff, creative writing including poetry and short stories, and science including astronomy and human anatomy and physiology. I was raised in the suburbs of Jacksonville, Florida, where my four siblings and I spent hot and humid summers on the beaches of St. Augustine. Both of my parents were born in the south -- my mother in Florida, my father in Georgia. I have traveled to or worked in many places across the globe including the Far East, Middle East, Europe, and Eurasia, which has had the effect of removing any trace of a southern accent. I am a romantic at heart. I experience great satisfaction is passing on to my children all that is good in the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was the Lord's latter-day prophet through whom the church of Jesus Christ in its fullness was restored again to the earth. I find great hope, comfort, strength, and direction in this restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a practical faith that can be lived in whatever circumstances we may find ourselves. I have been to war, and my faith and membership in this church have sustained me through it; I have lost loved ones and my faith has brought comfort and meaning; and I have experienced great joy and have recognized the hand of God in blessing me, because He knows me and is my Heavenly Father. A prophet of God, Thomas S. Monson, lives on the earth today. Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of mankind. We can live eternally as families through the ordinances of the restored gospel and by making and keeping sacred covenants in the Lord's Holy House. I am grateful for these blessings.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time. My life long membership in this church has taught me that the greatest good I can do on any given day is to help others wherever they are on the road of life. A listening ear, a smile, a small act of kindness, a willingness to consider another's perspective, praying at the end of the day with one of my children, or expressing confidence in a child who is doubting himself or herself -- this is how I live my faith one day at a time.
