Hi I'm Judy Hendrickson

I am starting a new mid-life career. I have a wonderful husband and a hairless Sphynx cat. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have had several careers over the years, mostly in construction. I met my husband approximately 6 years ago on a job he was building when I was a fire inspector. I recently completed training to be a medical transcriptionist. I love cooking, canning, and working on our home. My favorite thing is spending time with my husband. We enjoy hiking and exploring Arizona. We love to attend the temple and to visit temples when we travel. We enjoy eating pizza and watching movies. Our favorite TV shows are NCIS, Fringe, and Eureka. We have a Sphynx cat that is a funny part of our lives. She makes us both laugh.

Why I am a Mormon

When I met my husband I didn't want anything to do with church and made him promise not to try and convert me. He was a Mormon though and I soon realized that being a Mormon is a way of life and I began to ask questions. He directed me to LDS.org and through that site I found Mormon.org. When I read about the plan of salvation and why we're here, it just seemed exactly right - like I had always known but forgot. As I studied more, it all seemed like it made sense and was what I had been looking for in my life. Even the food storage. I had always stored food in case I lost my job or there was some kind of disaster. Here was a church that encouraged that very thing. It only made sense that Jesus would have come to the Americas too (John 10:16) and that God would still talk to a prophet today and not leave us all alone. I began to read the Book of Mormon. I finally got on my knees and prayed to know that it was true as we are each asked in Moroni 10:3-5. The feeling that came over me was the best of my life. I still have that feeling each day as I try to live by our Heavenly Father's commandments.

How I live my faith

I try to always be an example of my faith. I actively look for small things I can do like helping people that can't reach something in the store, saying hello to strangers, picking up trash when I'm walking, being kind to the cashier at the grocery store. I try to be friends with my neighbors and watch out for their needs. I am actively involved in our Church group (Ward). I work as a compassionate service leader and organize help for families when the mother is sick or hospitalized by bringing them meals, sometimes cleaning their houses, or providing child care. My husband and I both do our visiting teaching and home teaching each month. This is when we visit the families in our Ward that we are assigned to watch over. We bring them a Gospel message. We visit with them and try to find out if they have any needs that we can help with. We regularly attend the temple and attend Church each Sunday. We also work with community charities to help those in need. We currently have projects going with Ronald McDonald House and with AZBlankets4Kids.com.
