Hi I'm Mike

I grew up in Washington State and run a steel company. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband to my beautiful wife & father to 4 wonderful children. We live close to family and I enjoy spending most my free time outdoors. Whether it's water skiing, cycling, running, hiking, or snow skiing I love to be outside. I am a member of the National Ski Patrol at our local ski area during the winter months. So we are constantly up at Snoqualmie Pass. In addition to helping my own kids I've found great joy as a volunteer scout leader in the Boy Scouts of America. Seeing a young man realize his potential is very gratifying to me. There is something grand watching today's youth become tomorrow's leaders. My goals are to maintain my health and grow my business so we can retire well all while helping others which really gives me a genuine sense of fulfillment. My wife & I look forward to enjoying our children as they grow and one day grandchildren. We both enjoy traveling & people so we plan to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when we become "empty nesters".

Why I am a Mormon

During my early childhood till the time I left home for college I knew i belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but wasn't a good example of what a member should be. My life began at age 19 when I served a full time mission in the Dominican Republic. It was there I learned that I was no longer the center of the universe and I came to realization of how blessed I had been all my life. Serving others and teaching others about Jesus Christ was new to me. But I found out for myself this church is God's one and only true church on the face of the earth. When I finally mustered enough courage to ask my Heavenly Father if this was the true church of Jesus Christ, I received an answer that changed me forever. I know there is a God in heaven and he knows me. He knows you. He lives and has a plan for each of us and so far that plan has made me so very happy and content with life. I know if I follow God's plan I will continue to find my happiness. The key to my conversion was just asking if it was true. Guess I'd know all along but never really converted. Life is so much better being converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm happy all the time because I know the answers to life's test. I'm happy because I know my purpose here in this life and I know where I will go when I pass from this life. This knowledge is powerful in overcoming all that life can throw at you.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through service to others. Like I said earlier working with the youth has brought me great satisfaction, so I volunteer my time, talents and energy to help the young men grow into manhood and accept responsibility thorough the programs of the Boy Scouts of America. When helping an elderly lady restore her yard, or repairing a tattered roof or painting a home for less fortunate people, it all helps the young men understand that we are all in this life together and builds self esteem. I kneel in prayer morning and night to check in with my Father in Heaven so He knows what's going on with me and I can ask guidance from Him. Prayers are still answered on a daily basis and I'm thankful I've learned to rely on my Heavenly Father all the time. I pay tithing. 10% of my income goes to the church. At times tithing has been difficult to pay, but as the years have gone by, I 've learned something great...I can't afford to not pay my tithing! The Lord has blessed me with all that I have and he only asks for 1/10th. I've seen the blessing come from paying tithing so I continue to pay with faith that all will be well. I try to be an example of my faith to all that I encounter. I don't want people to think I'm one person at work and another person at church. So I try my best to make sure I'm a genuine member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
