Hi I'm Verne

I enjoy spending time with my wife, children and grandchildren. I enjoy my career as a school administrator. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Besides being an avid Yankee fan, I love running, fly fishing, hiking, boating, and other outdoor activities. I love to read, play the piano and sing. I have been married for 37 years. My wife and I have five children and will soon have 15 grandchildren. I started my career as a special education teacher over 30 years ago. Today I am a special education administrator.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS faith and was active as a youth. For a while during my late teens and early twenties, I was inactive in my faith. As I began looking around at role models and making decisions about my future, I decided that the values taught in the LDS church are what I wanted for myself and my family. I have been active now for 37 years. I have enjoyed the opportunities for growth and service and the joy and peace it has brought to my life and the blessings it has brought to my children. I love Jesus Christ and am so grateful for His atonement for me personally. I know the Savior loves the people on the earth today as much as He did when he walked the earth 2000 years ago. Because of that love, he has provided a prophet, Thomas S. Monson, for us today. In a confusing world, it is comforting to know that President Monson receives instructions from the Savior. By listening and following the prophet's counsel, we can be happy and secure.

How I live my faith

In my home, I live my faith by studying the scriptures, praying and being actively involved in my childrens' lives. I am crazy about my wife! We are empty nesters and loving this season of our lives. In my community, I live my faith by promoting character education. My professional career has given me the opportunity to advocate for children with special needs. Over the years I have had countless occaisions to coach Little League teams, X-country teams and serve as a Boy Scout leader. In my church, I have served in leadership positions teaching and mentoring youth. I have had the opportunity to serve as a Bishop (leader of a congregation). In this capacity I had the opportunity to witness the miracle of the atonement in peoples' lives. I was also deeply touched by the love and service our members give to others. Currently, I am teaching eleven year old children on Sunday mornings about our Savior's life from the New Testament. I love it!
