Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and I have always known that its true and I cannot explain it. I know like I know that Heavenly Father loves me and hears my prayers. I just know and the Gospel makes sense to me and it fits together. I know that Joseph Smith prayed to Heavenly Father and that He along with Jesus Christ appeared to him and I cannot deny that and I don't want to. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for me and that He loves me no matter what and I know that Jesus Christ suffered for our sins and sorrows. He loves us too and He bears our burdens and always wants us in his fold. I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be like Jesus Christ everyday. I try to serve others and have recently gotten into family history. I have a true testimony of its importance. I also share the Gospel with others through talking to them about our church and sharing church materials with them.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

The earth and all its creations. The sun rising and setting, the ocean waves, my beautiful nephews. When I get answers to my prayers. I feel it in my heart. To know there is a God, you have to have faith and then build a relationship with Him and the more that you do that, the more that you will know He is really there! Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we do not worship Joseph Smith. We revere him as a prophet of God. We respect him for all he did in his life to serve our Heavenly Father. We admire him and I have a personal testimony that he saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. With all that said, we worship the Lord. We pray to our Heavenly Father and we view him as our Creator and Jesus Christ as our Savior. Show more Show less

We do not do these things because they are not good for our body and just like we wouldn't put poisonous things in our bodies, we don't partake of these harmful substances. We have the Word of Wisdom that teaches us to put good foods and drink in our bodies, to get plenty of sleep, and to not put harmful things in our body. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

I believe that it begins with prayer. When we pray to Heavenly Father, then we begin to have faith in Him. He becomes our friend and confidante. As we grow in faith, we will begin to act in ways that are pleasing to Him and want to be more righteous. We are not perfect, but as we come to know Heavenly Father, we will desire to try and become perfect. We can also come to know Him by recognizing blessings that He gives us each and everyday. Sometimes they are small things, sometimes they are big things. When we recognize the Lord's hand, then we become more thankful and grateful for what He has blessed us with. I know that if we read our scriptures, we also will come to know Him and we must always pray! Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

We need a Savior because we are imperfect and the Savior makes up the difference! The Savior is to save us from our sins and our burdens. We can be forgiven of our sins through the Atonement of the Savior and be made clean again. The Lord knew that when we came to earth, that we would make mistakes and we would need someone that could help us. Jesus Christ being our Savior is another way that the Lord showed His love for us. He knew that we would need a savior and so Christ was chosen. I am personally thankful for tour Savior because He makes it possible for us to return to Him and Heavenly Father and for us to be with our families forever. Show more Show less
