Hi I'm Tanya Mathison

Photographer.Blogger.Homemaker.Writer; are things that I try to be, but inside and out I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay at home mother, by choice. I have been married for 11 years, and have been blessed with 4 beautiful children. However, almost 2 years ago my oldest son Caleb, age of 8, and I were in a bad car accident. He graduated from this mortal life and left to serve a mission on the other side of the veil. Our faith in God and Jesus Christ were tested beyond anything I have ever been through. We are still working on the process of grief and loss from this trial. But above all, we cannot deny the amazing tender mercies that the Lord has poured out to us since. It was almost like he was telling us, yes he too hurts for us, and yes he too is sad. And because of his loving magnet, it has pulled and pointed us towards Christ. Our focus has been made ever so strong and more sure, in understanding of his love for us- his children. He doesn't want to see us hurting, or having aching hearts- which is why he has created 'The Plan of Happiness'. Making it possible that we all can live again and become eternal families. This is our goal, this is our desire, that we fight to be found worthy to receive someday. What a joy it is to know this, and that because of Christ all will be made right, for he brings healing in his wings. Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, things in life did not always come easy. I had to make my choices each day like everyone else. I received many trials; I was given the sun and given the rain, and sometimes it just poured. To say that I was truly converted as a child or as a youth or as an adolescent wouldn't be the truth. My testimony fluctuated as I grew. Honestly, it wasn't until after a big ugly car accident 2 years ago that my oldest son and I were in, that pushed my testimony to a higher level. I have gained a strong sense of what it means to be an eternal family, and have developed a strong desire to be worthy to receive such a grand blessing from God above. This is why I am Mormon, the promised blessings that are given to us in the Temple of our God, that binds and seals families for time and for all eternity.

How I live my faith

I use to think that it was enough to just go to church on Sundays and proclaim that I was Mormon. I know now that, that was not living my faith. Since the car accident 2 years ago, I have been given a stronger sense of what it means to live my faith. To live your faith means: it is who you are, it is what you live for, it is was you aspire to become- it is embedded into every fiber of your being; you live for what you love. My love for my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ is strong, and it pulls me to live my faith, so that I may be found worthy by them to receive the righteous desire of my heart; which is to have all my children together again- to be an Eternal family. I have found it to be an honor to live my faith, for it is a small token required to receive these blessings, that my broke heart may finally be filled with rejoicing from on high.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Tanya Mathison
Since the car accident and having our sweet first born son leave us on this earth, this eternal truth has become my sole support and strength- to know that yes families relations can last longer then just this earthly life. It is surely the grandest gift that our Father in Heaven has blessed us with as his spiritual offspring, to come to earth, create our families, and have these beautiful friendships to last for time and all eternity. During these difficult years without our sweet Caleb, we are looking forward to the time that we will be together- a place where there is no sorrow and tears, but tears of joy and eternal happiness. It is an honor to leave this earthly life, to receive the grander blessings of the next life. To be with our Father in Heaven, our Savior Jesus Christ, and all of our beloved friends and family- there surely cannot be a more joyous place then our real home above. Show more Show less
