Hi I'm Adrienne

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Jr High English teacher who loves her career. Teaching now for about eight years, I've developed my "teacher personality" that's just quirky enough to entice 15 year-olds to listen to me! During the summer or Spring Break I love to travel and then share my adventures with my students. Living in a city surrounded my mountains, hiking, backpacking and camping are usually on my agenda somewhere. The pictures I take on my travels and mini-adventures become part of a photobook or scrapbook or added to my wall in interesting frames. Reading is another interest, makes sense since I'm an English teacher! Historical fiction, biography/autobiography, and Young Adult literature occupy most of my reading time-- with suggestions from other thrown in.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because there is no other place on earth to find eternal security and peace. I grew up a member of the LDS faith, but throughout my life I have had reinforcing experiences that have solidified my belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Once, when I was a teenager, we drove onto a beach in Florida and promptly got stuck. With the tide and a storm coming in, we were trapped in an extremely desperate circumstance. My parents asked us to pray for help. Within minutes, people started arriving on the nearly deserted beach, with the exact tools we needed to escape the power of the sand. One man said he never goes to the beach but that day he felt that he needed to go down there and he had the truck that ultimately pulled us out and got us on our way. My mother is currently in a war with cancer. Many, many sleepless, tearfilled nights I've spent crying to God and every time, he answers my prayers by sending His love to surround me. I know that I am a child of God, and that gives me confidence to believe that He has a plan for my life and for my Mom and for my famiy. I believe that "God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son" because He is our Father and He wants us all to come home again. Only through the Savior, Jesus Christ is that possible. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, I know that I am learning what it takes and am becoming the type of person who will be able to live with God again. No matter what trials or struggles we face here, there is always hope through Christ.

How I live my faith

I life my faith through many acts each week. One day a week I volunteer at the local art center and about once a month at the art center's events. On Sundays I teach a group of teenage girls and once a week participate in fun, wholesome activities with them. The Sunday lessons and weekly activities we plan teach the girls moral values, improve their sense of their individual worth, teach them life skills, and give them a group of friends with similar values and interests.
