Hi I'm Tom

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Minnesota, Arizona, California and Utah. My wife and I have four children.

About Me

I am a 50 year old husband and father of four. I love time with my family and extended family. I like to play guitar, golf, skateboard, and walk with my wife for exercise. I work in healthcare administration. For a time I turned my love of cars into a small used car dealership. Timing was terrible and I shut it down during the recent recession. I like many kinds of music especially rock from the 60s to today. I recently have found classical and smooth jazz to be quite comforting; probably reflective of my age.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon home. I am grateful to have been taught correct values and sound doctrine during my formative years. Despite that I found that I could only continue firm in my faith if I gained a testimony of truth for myself. Through immersion in the scriptures and consistent fervent prayer I was able to receive my own spiritual witness of the truth. Specifically that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon was and is all it is purported to be. I have read it many times and it continues to be a font of strength, knowledge and solace.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve and have held many ward and stake leadership positions. I am blessed right now to have the most rewarding and joyful calling I have ever had. I teach Sunday School to the youth who are ages 16-18. My wife and I have worked on making adjustments to our calendars so we can attend our nearby Temple more often. During worship at the Temple we are able to complete important ordinances such as baptism and marriages for our ancestors. We always come away feeling a deeper connection to our eternal nature and our role in God's plan for His children.
