Hi I'm Karen

I love my grandkids. I enjoy community service. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a grandma who loves having her grandchildren visit. I never finished college, but I love to learn and have been learning my whole life. I love being creative, solving problems and music. I play the violin and recently have been learning the piano. I would love to learn to play the organ, it facinates me. I love creating newsletters, flyers and cards on my computer. I love doing research, especially family history. I enjoyed the few years I was able to be on a community theater boad and involved in the sound, costumes and set constuction for summer musicals. I don't have that opportunity where I live now and I miss it. I enjoy decorating for weddings and other events. I like gardening and arranging flowers. Sometimes I wish I had become a florist. I like positive change and I am always re-organizing things in my house. (doesn't mean it stays clean or organized... but I enjoy trying) I love watching people, helping people and being around people, especially ones with a good sense of humor and that are secure enough to make fun of themselves.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, for me being a Mormon was a family tradition. Many of my ancestors were Utah Pioneers, but I think that I am a Mormon because I want to be. I could choose something else, but I have a strong testimony that what the Mormon Church teaches is true. I don't just rely on my family background to let me know that it is right. I prayed about it as I was growing up, and I had to get my own testimony, the same way every new member gets one, thru Study, Prayer, and Listening to the Spirit. I am a Mormon because everything I have ever been taught makes sense to me. I have seen over and over again what happens when you live as you should and what happens when you don't. I know that Heavenlly Father has a plan for me and everyone else and that he cares about me personally. I feel his help often. He knows what I need better than I do, and when I listen I am never

How I live my faith

I am very active in my church. I enjoy the fellowship that I get when I am involved. I have had many different assignments in the church over the years, including working with the youth, planning activities, directing music for meetings, making quilts for humanitarian purposes. I have been a leader of the women's, the children's, and the teenage girls organizations. I have also been a cubscout den leader, a boyscout advancement chairman and other scouting assignments. I am currently in charge of helping plan the special meetings that our women's organization has during the year. Our next one is a Garden Party. I direct music every week in our sacrament meeting and I have previously directed the Ward Choir. I also am assigned to visit 5 women on a monthly basis to make sure they have the help they might need and feel part of our organization. I enjoy everything that I do in the church. Most of the time we all work well together and help each other out willingly. I get lots of support from the other women when I plan events. I try to pray and read my scriptures everyday, but I am human and don't always get that done... .but when I do it gives me the inspiration to know what I need to be doing for others. I love to do Family History Research, and to help others do research on their families. I have tried to be involved in our community over the years too. I have been a volunteer at the school as often as I had time, I helped for a short time with the local food bank. I am looking for more community things to do, as I think it is important to support everyone in the community, not just members of my own church. I also take care of my elderly parents, so I keep busy, and busy keeps me happy.
