Hi I'm Damien

I love to have a laugh and enjoy life. I'm happily married to my best friend, Bonnie. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a bit of a dreamer with a good idea of what I'd like to do in the future. That most certainly includes my wife Bonnie, who I spent a number of years pursuing and for good reason. We love to laugh and have a good time, mostly at things that are quite nerdy. That's all my doing. I get a kick out of puns and think that I generally have a happy nature. I completed my bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Business Economics, and hope to have a career in personal and business finance. I enjoy working with people and forming new friendships and see this career as one well suited to me (not only because I enjoy wearing a suit). Pun #1. (Actually, my wife is #1). I also enjoy sport, particularly AFL, but mostly love a nice clear, sunny day that is spent in a local park/beach kicking a footy or playing cricket.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family already attending the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Looking back, it was the best upbringing I could have asked for. The practical teachings of the church have helped me build a character that I otherwise could not have refined on my own. It has helped me learn to think of another rather than myself, give service, control my emotions, avoid costly vices and develop virtues that bring great happiness and peace. But further to this, I'm a Mormon because I have felt and continue to feel the influence of a loving Heavenly Father who guides my life. As I follow the example of His Son, Jesus Christ, I learn of His sacrifice and atonement and apply the principles of repentance - a necessary process as we all sometimes fall short. The happiness that I feel through acceptance of the Saviour is a refinement that is amazingly enjoyable, only to be surpassed by the glory yet to be revealed.

How I live my faith

Personally, I enjoy church and the counsel I receive that acts as a welcome reminder every Sunday of my potential and how I can reach that goal. I constantly remark on how relevant the teachings are and how I wish that others could be present to also hear. While Sundays are great, the beauty of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is that it is a way of life - it guides all my decisions and impacts on the way I interact with others. I had the privilege of sharing my testimony for two years among the people of the Netherlands and Belgium. It was hard work but extremely fulfilling as I saw the changes the gospel brings to the lives of others. To sum up in a few words how I live my faith: I live it with pleasure.
