Hi I'm Tom

I believe in Christ. I'm a husband, father, cancer survivor, and newly minted grandfather. I love cycling. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I’m a simple guy who doesn’t like to be in the spotlight. My family means everything to me. I have three daughters who are all married and starting their own families now. I still worry about them as much as I did when they were out on their very first dates as teenagers. I am filled with joy when we are able to be together and sad when we must say goodbye. I am married to my best friend and know that I can never begin to repay her all that she has given and sacrificed for me. I will forever be in her debt. I love everything about cycling. The exercise I get from it is fantastic and I love to challenge myself to go faster and ride further. I enjoy the satisfaction I get when I am out riding. I feel at peace when I ride and am able to remove myself, even if only for a short time, from the challenges of daily life. Riding helps me to clear my mind and regain a proper eternal perspective on my life. This in turn helps me find solutions that I might otherwise overlook and make better decisions.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a burning testimony within me that Jesus Christ is the savior of all mankind. I know that He lives. I know that He suffered for me individually and that because He has suffered for me He knows how to heal me. He can remove the stains that are the result of my poor choices. Without Him and the atonement I am lost. There is no other way back to my Father in Heaven. I am far from perfect but I know that through sincere repentance I can be forgiven. I have read and studied the Book of Mormon. I find doctrines and percepts within its pages that complement the teachings of Jesus Christ as recorded in the New Testament. I prayed to know for myself if it is a book of the history and revelations recorded by ancient prophets in America or if it is a book designed by evil men to deceive and lead its believers astray from the teachings of Christ. I received an answer that its teachings are correct and true. Because of this, I know that Joseph Smith was a modern-day prophet and that he restored the church of Jesus Christ in its true and proper form. I am a Mormon because I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ’s church upon the earth today. It is led by Christ Himself through a living prophet who speaks on His behalf just as Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, and many other prophets did anciently.

How I live my faith

I feel greatly blessed and rewarded when I serve and help others. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides me with many opportunities to serve my neighbor. The Savior showed us how to be compassionate and take action to help those in need. One of the ways I live my faith is by striving to follow His example and demonstrating compassion towards my fellowman.
