Hi I'm Joe

I live in the Seattle area. I am getting used to the rain. I enjoy working in the transportation industry. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with three young daughters. They fill my life with love, energy, and excitement. Pure joy! One of my daughters surprised us last year with an illness that required an emergent liver transplant. I am grateful she is doing well. Life is an adventure! My interests include anything transportation related. I love trains, planes and automobiles. The freedom of flight is exhilarating. The sound of a well-tuned V8 on a winding mountain road gives me chills. I enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. I'm even beginning to appreciate the frequent rainfall. It doesn't bother me as much now that I've lived here for awhile. It's peaceful and soothing at times.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm not sure of the exact date or time that I became aware of God. It always seemed natural to me that there was a creator of Heaven and Earth. I am grateful to know that God lives. He is literally our Father in Heaven. There is always a peace that comes to me when I get on my knees and sincerely pray to Him. His patience and love never cease to amaze me. I know that God values each one of His children and desires our greatest happiness. I am grateful to know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Savior and Redeemer. My appreciation of His atoning sacrifice continues to grow as I become increasingly aware of how much I need Him. I have felt my burdens lifted as I have sought His forgiveness of my sins and weaknesses. His Gospel of Love, Forgiveness, and Joy, brings peace and happiness into my life as well as the lives of my family. He bears my burdens and gives me strength to endure every challenge. He is always consistent and accessible. Every time I turn to Him, He turns to me. I know that by keeping His commandments and abiding by the doctrine and ordinances of His Gospel provides the greatest freedom and happiness in life. I am grateful for the scriptures and the words of living Apostles and Prophets. I know that reading the Bible and Book of Mormon bring me nearer to God. The scriptures give us knowledge of who we are and why we have come to this earth. The words of Christ provide peace and comfort in an increasingly chaotic world. The light and knowledge we gain by studying the scriptures and the words of living Prophets provide peace, contentment, and strength to endure the challenges we all face in life. I have always loved the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That Joseph Smith, as a young boy, could exercise faith in Jesus Christ and an all-knowing Father in Heaven, and receive an answer to prayer is wonderful. The Book of Mormon is a great treasure and gift from God - I am so grateful!

How I live my faith

We live in a diverse community. There are always opportunities to serve with our neighbors and other faith groups in various community projects. Our community has a tradition of doing service the weekend of 9/11. The Mormon congregations throughout the Pacific Northwest organize into work groups with other faiths to do a day of community service. Last year my girls and I painted fences at a retirement community. My daughters had a blast. They couldn't believe we were actually going to let them loose with paint brushes and paint cans. The residents were very grateful and enjoyed visiting with the volunteers. My girls learned that serving others brings the greatest joy in life. Christ taught that we should love all people, forgive, and serve one another. It's wonderful to experience His teachings in action. My wife also serves in the children's Sunday School program. She taught elementary school for many years and enjoys using her skills and talents to teach the children about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Almost every Sunday after church she tells me how amazing the children are and how they understand that they are children of God. In my career, I have had to make decisions that impact my company and its employees. I have often struggled with challenges that would affect the lives of others. I have learned that the easy road isn't usually the best road. In the business world, ethical and moral choices aren't typically accepted unless they are economically advantageous. I have had the unfortunate experience of witnessing the destructive consequences of dishonest business practices. I have also experienced the satisfaction of working in an environment where honesty, integrity, and ethical business practices are honored. Regardless of the working environment I'm in or the conditions in the business world, I know what foundation I can rely on... The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the sure foundation we can build our lives upon!
