Hi I'm Ada

I'm a wife & mother, a musician & athlete, & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the country, 30 minutes from town. When I was 12, my dad’s job moved us to the middle of a national park. I have always had a love of the outdoors; I love to hike, camp, run, bike, swim & go boating. I now get to enjoy these activities with my family, my husband & four girls. I received a music therapy degree in college & love to share the Lord’s spirit through music. My favorite music to play on the piano is new age instrumental, & I love to work out to music from the 60’s.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, my parents being baptized as teenagers & becoming the first members of their families. I saw firsthand the difference the gospel made in my parents' lives versus our extended families' lives. While I have had to do my own work to find my own testimony, I am ultimately a Mormon because my parents taught me the right way to live. They taught me that I am a child of God, He loves me & wants me home. The Holy Ghost has witnessed to my heart again & again of these eternal truths, which brings me peace & joy in this life.

How I live my faith

The first thing that happens when I roll out of bed every morning, & then again before I crawl into bed at night, is to kneel & pray to my Heavenly Father. We bless our meals during the day as a family, & we also make sure to say a family prayer every morning & every night. I feel stronger & closer to my family & my Savior when I am consistently engaged in these important daily prayers. I make it a priority to read in the scriptures daily, even if it’s only a few verses read to my children before quiet time. Sometimes they are the ones reading to me! Other times, my scripture reading happens while I’m running & can listen to audio scriptures or talks by our church leaders on my iPhone through the Mormon Channel. We also make family scripture reading a part of our nightly routine before putting kids to bed. The scriptures help keep my focus where it should be, on my Savior. One of the greatest blessings is our monthly family temple trip. I find great strength & peace while in the temple away from the busy world. Our kids love going to the temple because it means pizza after Mom & Dad are finished! I currently teach the 4 year-olds in church, which I love; they are so excited to learn truth. It is important to me to personally follow the principles I teach my class about. The only perfect person was Jesus Christ. But I believe that if we do our best in all areas of our lives, our best being different from day to day perhaps, the Atonement of our Savior will make up the difference in the end. I know He loves us all & desires for us to come home.
