Hi I'm Michael

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married to the most wonderful woman I know. Together we're the parents of four fantastic children. They range from a Junior and a Freshman in High School, to a 7th grader in Junior High, and a 6th grader in Elementary School. They keep us extremely busy. I'm a Network and Telecom Engineer. I love to make time in my hectic life to spend with my wife and kids. I love to hike, camp, fish, really anything in the outdoors. I really enjoy sports. All of them. College, Pro, playing softball or volleyball. I've had the opportunity to coach my kids in soccer, baseball, basketball and football. I love being able to teach them and others about the games and how to be a good sport, teammate and how to win! Since we live in such a hot climate, we spend lots of our time in our swimming pool.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both strong members of the church. From an early age, I knew how important it was to them. As long as I can remember, I have had an understanding that the principles taught in the LDS Church are true. It has always made me happy and brought peace and joy into my life. The best part? I have always been encouraged to find out for myself. While I knew it was expected of me to attend church and other activities, it was never forced on me and now, I can't imagine life without the Church. For me, to have such clear answers as to the purpose of my life here on earth, where I came from before here and where it is I can go in the hereafter, bring not only great comfort, but a deep desire to do all that I can to be a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. I'm far from perfect. I make mistakes, I even recognize that I have character flaws that I'm trying to work through, but I know that as I try, the Lord will give me strength and help me shoulder the load. I'd be nothing without my Savior, Jesus Christ. I'll never be able to thank Him for all that He did for me in Gethsemane, on the cross, and that first Easter Morning. I know that the Lord provides guidance for us in our day, just as He did for His children in the past. This guidance comes in the form of words from Prophets. I know that we can find those words in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon. The two work so elegantly together and help me have a deeper understanding of what my Heavenly Father expects of me and how I can return to live with Him again. He also provides living Prophets to lead a guide us today. We are His children, He wants us to come home. It makes sense to me that He would help us understand how to get there. I know that our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ spoke to Joseph Smith and through Joseph, the Church of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth. I know that because of this church, I will be with my family for eternity. And that makes me happiest of all.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve as one of the leaders of men's group within our congregation. It can be a big job. One of the biggest responsibilities we have is to organize and oversee the hometeaching program in the church. We assign each family in our congregation two men who work together to make sure that those families are cared for physically and spiritually. The idea is they serve as a direct Minister to each of those families. The relationships that are developed through those associations can be extremely rewarding for everybody involved. It really makes me feel good to know that I have someone to count on if we ever need any help. Previously, I've served mostly with the youth in our ward. I've been able to see boys grow up and develop into fine, upstanding, contributing members of the community here or wherever they live. I really appreciate the efforts of the Church to help these young men to grow in all aspects of life; physically, mentally, socially and of course spiritually.
