Hi I'm Marissa

I was born and raised in Layton, Utah. I'm 6'2" tall and didn't play basketball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I absolutely love Volleyball. I also really enjoy quilting, which people are surprised by because I'm in my mid-twenties. I love art, especially photography. I would really like to someday further my education and get a degree in social work. My husband and I aren't able to have children and I would love to help others with the adoption process that we too will have to experience someday. I love shopping, especially when I find really great deals, which I seem pretty talented at. I really love reading, I love getting lost in the pages of a great piece of literature. I also love my friends and family without who life would not be as fulfilling, for what is a life without love?

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was baptized at 8 years old just like all of my siblings. When you are born into the church that doesn't mean that you are born with a testimony of it. We also have to be converted in our hearts. We must seek out the truth in prayer from our Heavenly Father. I have done this several times in my life and every time I have felt the burning of the spirit in my heart, telling me that it is indeed the true church of Christ. As I go to church each week I feel the spirit and it bears to me eternal truths that are taught there, things I've been learning since I was a small child. That I am a daughter of God, that he loves me, that he sent me here to learn and grow through trial and faith so that I may one day return to him and live with him eternally. I have learned that Heavenly Father will bless us when we follow his commandments and do our best to live righteously each day. I know that I will make mistakes but if I call upon my Father in Heaven I can repent of those sins and can be forgiven because of Jesus' sacrifice, his everlasting atonement. I know that Heavenly Father hears our prayers and that our needs are important to Him. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today just as in days of old. Heavenly Father will not leave his children abandoned in this troubled time. He has called a prophet to lead and to guide his people, and that prophet is Thomas S. Monson. This church is true, the spirit has told me this as I have read the Book of Mormon. I say these things, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Right now in the church I teach the 12 and 13 year old young women in the ward. It is the most wonderful calling I've ever had in the church. I teach them on Sundays and we have an activity each Wednesday night where we do various crafts, service projects, learn homemaking skills etc. I have also served in the Primary working with 3 and 4 year olds. I absolutely love children and adored this calling. The women of the ward also have activities once a month that I try to attend despite my busy work schedule.
