Hi I'm McKayla

I live In New Hampshire. I'm 23 years old. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I spent a year and a half in Buenos Aires Argentina serving a full-time mission for the church. I have been attending college the past few months.

Why I am a Mormon

It wasn't always clear to me what I should do or what I believed. I trusted in my parents and their beliefs until one day i realized that I wanted to know what was true, what was real. The Book of Mormon isn't just another book. It seemed that way for a while, but that is because I hadn't really studied it out. When I left home to study in Canada at 19 years old I realized a lot of things, mostly that I wanted to understand and embrace my relationship with God. As I studied the Book of Mormon I began to get to know my Heavenly Father. I would be working really late sometimes, my schedule was pretty busy. I was going to school full-time and working three jobs. I was waitressing at a thai restaurant, working in a hair salon, and coaching soccer for two-hundred two and three year olds. I made it a goal to continue to read every night even when I returned home late, and somehow every morning I felt refreshed and ready to go. One night I decided to pray to know if the Book of Mormon was true. It was late and everyone else was asleep. I knelt beside my bed for what seemed to be hours. I felt in my heart a burning that was so real I knew that it had come from God. I knew that from that moment on that I could never deny the truthfulness of this Book, and of this gospel. I know that this church is true because i have seen the blessings of living the gospel in my own life.

How I live my faith

Service is one of the best ways to participate! A great way to do this is by asking God to find at least one person each day that you can help. It may even be with just a friendly smile!! I love assignments or "callings" in the church because it helps you to learn what love is. You get to make a difference in the lives of others and in turn you also come to love them. This happens through planning activities, service projects, reaching out to others through visits, teaching about God, His Son Jesus Christ, The Book of Mormon, forever families, a living prophet, and other true and wonderful gospel principles. We also have the chance to be teachable and learn to be better by living those principles.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jesus Christ gave His life so that we can be forgiven of our sins and live with God again one day. He did this because He loves us. This is not the only sacrifice that was made. Jesus Christ suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane so that he could understand and feel everything that we may suffer in this life. Not only our sins, but also our sicknesses, our losses, our failures, our heartache, our loneliness, our tiredness, hunger, fear..everything. He wanted to be able to feel and pass through what we feel and pass through. We are never alone in trials or in life, because our Savior paid the price to stand beside us in every moment feeling exactly what we feel. Even though life can be difficult at times, even for a 23 year old college student I promise! We can find comfort in Jesus Christ. For because He gave his life, we have the opportunity to return to live with our Heavenly father forever and with our families. Show more Show less
