Hi I'm Jake

I'm a husband, father, and medical student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my amazing wife for five years. We have two children, a boy and a girl, that we love very much. I am in my fourth year of medical school and hope to become a family physician. I enjoy playing and composing music for the fiddle and guitar and doing any activity that involves being with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the fact that we have a living prophet on the Earth. Ever since I was very little, I have loved to hear Joseph Smith's account of his search for the true church. His question of which church to join was so simple and pure. His honest prayer to find the truth, and the answer he received, has always been very powerful to me. In answer to his prayer, Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and was called as a prophet to restore Christ's true church. His experience makes me feel that Heavenly Father knows me personally and can give me the same kind of guidance if I pray with faith. Because I know Joseph Smith is a prophet, I know the church he established is Christ's true church, and I know that it teaches us what Heavenly Father wants us to know to be happy and return to live with him again. I also love the doctrine the church teaches regarding eternal families. Nothing on Earth gives me so much joy as being with my family, and heaven would be very empty if I couldn't be there with them. I know that the priesthood power has been restored to seal families together forever, and I know that because my wife and I were married by a person holding that power, our marriage will continue after this life.

How I live my faith

I show my faith through service in the church and to my friends and neighbors. I do my best to use the talents I have been given to uplift and instruct others. In my ward, I conduct the music during church and lead the choir. I share my musical talents with my family and classmates to entertain and educate them. I also enjoy volunteering my time at a local homeless shelter, providing free medical care. As I serve others, I feel that I am doing what the Savior would do if he were in my situation. I also enjoy sharing the gospel with those who have questions about the church and working in the temple.
