Hi I'm James

I'm an aspiring actor, I am studying computer science and most important of all to me, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college age kid. I will be studying computer sciences, but right now I am working to save up for college. I just recently returned from serving a mission in Japan, so I know a little Japanese. I enjoy spending time with my family. My family is just like one of those families that you see in advertising pictures, always smiling and laughing, generally having a great time together. One of our favorite things to do is put on family Shakespeare plays with personal twists added. By personal I mean individually created and mixed all together. In the play Henry V, I was the constable of France, I chose to be Chinese. My sister was a Scottish prince. We were capable of convincing the audience that a tragedy was a comedy. I guess that this is the reason I enjoy acting so much I can be serious too. I enjoy working hard and helping out my Mom. It is extremely satisfying when I finish a big project and can just sit back and look at what was done. When the work is done, I like to kick back and play on my Xbox or chill with my friends. Life for me especially right now could be extremely stressful with all of the unknowns and uncertainties of the future hanging right in front of me, but it's not. This is why my church is so important to me, I can face the future with confidence because I know that if I follow what God has told me, I will succeed.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been asked, "what is different about your church?". The truth is, I don't know all of the answers to that question. I do know that my church is the same Church that Jesus Christ organized during his earthly ministry. It was restored to the earth by Jesus Christ through his prophet Joseph Smith in the 1800s. We believe in continuing revelation. Taking a different look at this information, that's pretty crazy, and awesome. God still loves us and we can know it for ourselves. It took me a little time to figure it out even though it was right in front of me my whole life. There is a scripture that comes to mind that says that we can only gain spiritual knowledge through spiritual means. In the Bible, James 1:5 states " If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." That scripture touched me somewhere in a way that I hadn't been touched before. God would give anyone who came asking for wisdom, wisdom. and he would give it freely. (Wisdom - the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise.) I wanted to know if God loved me, if he even knew I existed. After I prayed, He let me know that he loves me. He let me know that he loves everyone. That is why Jesus Christ died for us. I have also been asked why I served a mission far from home with tons of rules. Well really simply, it's because I love my savior Jesus Christ and if he thought we were worth dying for, then I could go and share that wonderful news with everyone else even if it was hard. I decided to rephrase the first question in this section so that I can answer it completely. "Why Mormonism?" Because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints is the one true church. I know because I asked the only person who knows and who would never lie. I asked God. Yes, I don't do things like Drink Alcohol or watch rated R movies, but thats because God asks us no to and I want to listen.

How I live my faith

I try my hardest to live what I believe everyday by trying to follow Jesus Christ's example. I have received opportunities to serve in my congregation by doing simple things like making sure that two specific families are all right and by being that person they can call in an emergency. I also am privileged to be able to help out two guys about my age who are in our area serving a mission. Honestly, the secret to eternal happiness is right there in front of us all of the time, but we often make ourselves do the hard thing to get it and even that doesn't work. I found that in order to be happy, alone or with a family, we just need to be like Christ and follow his example. The only difference between my life and most everyone else's is, I am a mormon, and like most mormons I am trying to be like Jesus.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Jesus Christ choses who the Prophet is. It is his Church. He directs the calling and appointment of the Prophet through revelation. Show more Show less
