Hi I'm JoEllen

I'm the mother of 6, all girls, except the first 5, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of 6 children. I have done Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, sports, and piano lessons. While they were young it was a lot of fun and noise. Now that they have all graduated college, and most are married with families of their own, my husband and I delight in their successes and our grandchildren. I am a bookkeeper at an insurance agency and looking forward to retirement and serving missions with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ gives me true and long-lasting happiness now and will for eternity. I know this church is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ, with His Priesthood and His Atonement and His holy prophets being at the center of it. I know by the power of the Holy Ghost that it is true.

How I live my faith

I serve in a Young Single Adult Branch where I get to teach and train in many areas. I help to ensure that our weekly activities are worthwhile, well-planned and executed; making sure we use the time well. Recently we put together and hosted a Multi-Stake Conference that resulted in new friendships and strengthened resolve to stand for truth and righteousness. I also get to teach classes on Family History, Goal-Setting, and Music Conducting. It is my opportunity to help prepare and train these college-age youth for life and service where they can contribute in meaningful ways after they have finished their schooling, developed their careers, and found their marriage partners.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

My husband learned to speak Portuguese and served a mission to Brazil many years ago in his youth. All five of our sons have also served missions throughout the world speaking five more different languages. They all served willingly and at their own expense and count it as the best two years for their life. Their missions were an opportunity to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and change not only people's lives, but their eternities! Show more Show less
