Hi I'm Evan L Murray

I am Evan, I raced homing pigeons. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah, grew up in Utah, Arizona, California, and Virginia. I am the father of six children, 5 boys and 1 girl. All of which have graduated from college, most are married and raising families of their own. I have served as a volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years. All of my sons are Eagle Scouts and have served foreign missions for our church. I served in Brazil for two years when I was 20 years old. When I was a teenager, I had a strong interest in pigeons. Our postman was a pigeon fancier and he and his wife raced homing pigeons. They helped me get started in a hobby I followed for over 25 years. In Wyoming our birds had to fly over the Big Horn Mountains, over 10,000 feet in elevation, to get to their loft at my home.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church into a faithful family of eight children. I went to church every week and learned to pray and respond to the answers to my prayers. I gained a knowledge of the truth of The Book of Mormon by reading it and praying to know from a loving Heavenly Father that it is true. Showing my faith in the Lord, I served over two years in Brazil sharing the gospel and serving the Brazilian members and finding others who were searching for the truth. I try to serve and help others to show my faith in the Savior. I love to be with young men and young women, it makes me happy to see them enjoying life and learning and preparing for their future lives.

How I live my faith

I have served as Scoutmaster in 3 different troops in three different towns where we lived. I tried to take the scouts on overnight camping trips each month. We did a lot of great trips. Teaching the young scouts to camp, cook, and other scouting skills. I was called to be the Bishop of a ward for 5 years in Casper, Wyoming. Currently my wife and I are serving in a Young Singles Branch with college students and other young singles who are working in the Casper area. I live my faith by helping others and sharing their joys and hard times in whatever way I can. We do a lot of fun activities, play volleyball, soccer, board games, and dance to give these young people good wholesome ways to associate with each other and spend a little time away from their studies and other hard work they do.
