Hi I'm Dave

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 58 years old, remarried for the second time, and the father of 2 children, both of whom are now grown up and married with their own children, my 5 grandchildren, whom I love very much. I work for an international corporation here in Colorado as a network administrator in the information services field. I love computers, so much, in fact, that my main hobby is working on computers, in addition to what I do for work each day. I am the quintessential computer geek!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger, my dad at that time professed to be an atheist, and one day I had said something about God, angels or the devil, (I don't remember exactly what), but my dad got angry and stated forcefully "there's no such thing as the devil", saying something like "bring the devil here now so we can see him and know for sure that he exists" or something similar to this. But I just had a very certain feeling at that time that what he was saying was not true, and that there is a God! (I now recognise that the Spirit of God had spoken to me, and given me this assurance of the truth of God). For me, coming from a very unhappy and abusive childhood, and then making so many poor personal choices in my early adulthood, I felt trapped in a life of depression and stagnation. I sometimes despaired of ever being fully involved with the church, and having peace in my life. After my divorce from my first wife, I wandered around pretty much aimlessly for many years. I felt such a deep sense of inadequacy and hopelessness. But after many years, I was blessed to have a wonderful miracle of healing through the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. This miracle has allowed me to move forward in my life, get married again, be stable in my career that allows me to provide for my beautiful family, and to participate fully in church activities. I read the Book of Mormon for myself, in its entirety, when I was in my early 20's and received a powerful and beautiful witness of the Spirit that it truly is the word of God, and that Joseph Smith was telling the truth about how this book came into existence, and that he was a true prophet of God. Since that time, over the ensuing years, I have rejoiced in my witness and testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I still love reading all of the scriptures including the Bible and the Book of Mormon, with their powerful witness of the Saviour, and the laws and commandments that bring peace and safety in this unsettled and dangerous world.

How I live my faith

Currently, I serve in the leadership of the local LDS congregation in the town where I live. My testimony of my Savior brings such peace to my life, and allows me to fully empathise with others who struggle and have personal problems. Coming from these many unhappy years, through the things I learned by painful experience, I feel a deep desire to help and bless the lives of others who struggle with adversity and anguish.
