Hi I'm Venette

I'm married and have a bunch of great kids. I live in Colorado. I don't especially like snow and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in San Rafael, CA, graduated and started college at Ricks College (now known as BYU-Idaho). I accomplished my dream to become a dancer, found a new love of ballroom dancing and found myself in many competitions. Luckily, my partner and I won in the top three places in all but one competition. That made it worth the stress. My dancing career didn't stop when I got married. I started doing choreography in between having children, taught exercise classes to get back in shape. I was widowed after my 1st child was born, divorced after my next 3 were born and currently live with my husband of 23 years with 2 more children, total= 6. Also, a stepmother of 2 and raising a granddaughter. I love to paint on canvas, on walls on houses and sometimes on my clothes. I've had a lot of rough times in my life but I seem to come out on top because I know it's all about learning to be better. If I keep getting up every time I get knocked down, I know it will all be worth it in the end.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a home where I was taught about Jesus Christ and how to follow His example. From the time I can remember and think for myself, I felt the love of my Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ and knew that they were aware of me and wanted me to grow into my potential. As with a diamond or a ingot of pure gold, one must be refined through pressure or the refiner's fire to become the person the Lord knows that we are in spirit. We need to learn how to control the 'natural man' to become more like Jesus Christ and prove ourselves worthy of the blessings of Eternal Life and Exaltation. I have known heartache by losing a spouse to death, a child to another family, a child to the ways of the world, another spouse through infidelity, my health and sometimes, even my hope. But through the knowledge that this life is only a small moment in time, and if I endure it well, I will be blessed equal to the trials I've endured. I know that my Savior, Jesus Christ, lives and loves me. He knows my name. He knows my strengths and weaknesses and is always aware of my needs and is there to help me through whatever life throws at me. This I know through the gift of the Holy Ghost that bears this witness to my spirit.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve others through my church activity and the callings I have received through inspired leaders. As a child, I learned how to speak in front of large groups and how to use talents that I was just learning I had. As a young woman I learned many life skills that would be very valuable in teaching many of those of whom I was called to teach in various situations. I have served as a cub scout leader, a camp leader for young women, a president of organizations of young children and teenagers. I have had the opportunity to teach children and adults about Jesus Christ, how to make Pinewood Derby cars, how to perform and teach others how to perform the arts. In a women's organization I have been able to help feed those less fortunate. In my personal life, I been able to raise a family as well as develop my own skills. I have had many teachers and leaders who have taught me with the dedication of servants of the Lord. I am who I am because of that dedication. These are all the visible things I have been able to learn and share with others but the knowledge I have gained has made a difference in how I see myself and others as children of God with talents, abilities and challenges. We are here to grow and serve one another and for this knowledge, I thank my Heavenly Father. This is how we serve the Lord.
