Hi I'm Ryan

I live in Colorado, I love my family, and I recently returned from serving a mission in the California Los Angeles mission

About Me

I am the second youngest of six kids, and I love my family. We do everything together, and we are all best friends. The best times of the year are when we get to be together. I recently returned from a mission in the Los Angeles Mission (hence the Lakers shirt-I got it as a joke, I'm a Nuggets fan), and I am excited to return to BYU Provo and move on to the next stages of my life. Some of my favorite hobbies are reading, playing basketball, wearing tacky golf shorts (see profile picture, no those are not a tablecloth. They are shorts.), and playing golf with my dad and brothers. I also play a pretty mean game of frisbee, or frisbee golf, take your pick, and am recently starting to pick up tennis. I like to lead an active, healthy, busy lifestyle, but don't worry, I've got my lazy moments too. Far too many of them. My favorite TV show is Psych, and my favorite movie is probably the move Up. Makes me tear up every time. I am a sophomore in college, open major, but leaning towards psychology with a minor in spanish. I have two dogs, both black labs, and I love them to death. Well, one of them. My family got the other one to replace me when I left on my mission, but we are turning into friends anyway.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons why I am a Mormon. There is no better way of living. It keeps me safe, and happy, and truly blesses my family and allows for greater peace and love at home. And to me, one of the greatest things I can imagine is that I can live with my family forever. I love my family so much, and I know that through this church we can all live together forever, and that brings so much happiness into my life. But, the main reason I am a Mormon, is because I know it's true. I have read the Book of Mormon many times in my life, i go to church every sunday, and I follow the commandments and I know it's true and that my life is blessed because of it. Many times, I have felt the hand of my Heavenly Father in my life, and I know that He loves me and he wants me to return to Him. And I know that only through His Son, Jesus Christ, can I return to live with him. I know Jesus Christ is my Savior, that he knows me personally and loves me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to see the big picture. With so many things going on around us, so many distractions, obligations, rules, it is so easy to lose sight of what is most important. I try to live my life so I can see what is most important, not what should be done to mark off a checklist. I live my faith by trying to stay close to God by reading the scriptures, daily prayer, going to church, and remembering Him. And when I can remember Him, it makes it much easier to remember others, and serve them as well. To me, religion shouldn't be complicated. I want it to make sense to me, and I want it to feel good. And I've noticed, those two usually go hand in hand. Worrying too much about being perfect and doing everything right doesn't make me feel closer to God, but remembering that He loves me and accepts me when I try my best, does. It's simple.
