Hi I'm Joshua.

I grew up in West Valley City Utah. I'm a husband, student, marketer, father, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married to my best friend for over five years. We have been blessed with three children and each one brings unique talents and joys into our lives. I love to run. Every opportunity I get to go running, I do so. It is such a stress reliever and I'm able to think through life and clear my head. Other than children and spending time with my wife, I work and go to school. Balancing all of these responsibilities is a challenge, but with support from my beautiful wife, good friends, and confirmations from God about my efforts, I've been able to stay sane and enjoy different aspects of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me as a Mormon, but that is not the main reason I'm a member. I'm thankful to them for helping me understand some concepts, but I am a Mormon because I prayed to God to find out if the Book of Mormon was his word. He revealed to me, through that prayer, that the Book of Mormon is his word. My testimony grew as I read the scriptures, continued to pray, and receive inspiration through the Holy Ghost. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church on the earth today because the church not only makes sense, but I feel it in my heart every time that the prophet speaks that Christ directly speaks to him and guides the church. I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy, and it is the only church that helps me return back to heaven with my beautiful wife.

How I live my faith

I've lived my faith through various ways. Growing up, I was the leader of other boys my ages in different stages of life. As I've grown, I served a two year unpaid mission to the people in Texas. During this time, I did nothing but study and teach the gospel. Seeing the light that came into people's eyes as I told them that Heavenly Father loves them and that his plan is for us to be happy was amazing. Also, being the introduction to his marvelous plan was an opportunity that few people in the history of the world, and I'm eternally grateful for having that opportunity. I've also been able to serve the community as being an Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, donating blood to the American Red Cross, serving in various functions and positions within the church, and helping young men earn their Eagle Scouts by donating time during their Eagle Scout Projects. I also attend church with my children and wife every Sunday and try to follow all of the guidance given to me by the Prophet and Apostles.

What is the First Vision?

Joshua.
The First Vision occurred in the year 1820. A young, uneducated farm boy named Joseph Smith, Jr. who lived in New York State, was confused as to which church to join. Turning to the Bible, he read James 1:5 that told him of the promise that, if ever you have a question, that you'd be able to ask God, and God will answer you. So, he decided to ask God via prayer. He wanted to make this prayer special by going to a grove of trees to be by himself and to ask of God. As he prayed, a light from heaven rested upon him and he heard God's voice that called Joseph by name telling Joseph to listen to His beloved son, Jesus Christ. Christ said that, at that time, the true church was not on the church. He chose Joseph Smith, Jr. to become the first prophet of modern times and he helped Christ restore the gospel and priesthood authority back to the world. Show more Show less
