Hi I'm Gene

I am a senior citizen and fly fishing is my passion. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a grey haired grandfather. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest of the United States and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University. I worked for 32 years as a federal employee in the U.S. Department of the Interior and have been retired for more than 11 years. I enjoy pickleball, fly fishing, camping and hiking.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in his son, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was born of an immortal father and a mortal mother (Mary). Jesus Christ came to earth to do the will of his and our Eternal Father. That is--to provide a sacrifice so that man (after death) can return to and live eternally in the presence of God. Christ's sacrifice comes in two parts. First, he suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane for the sins of man. This allows us to repent and be forgiven of our sins. Second, he provided a resurrection which means that our body will be reunited with our spirit after death. Christ's sacrifice testify of his and God's love for mankind. They loved us in old times and today as well. The Mormon Church is the only one that believes that God continues to talk to man. Revelation from God to man did not end with the death of Christ's apostles in old time. Christ's church was restored to the earth in modern day through a prophet named Joseph Smith. The Mormon Church is also the only one that includes apostles (as in Christ's day). One of these men, Thomas S. Monson, is the prophet God on the earth today. The Mormon Church includes God's priesthood (authority to act in God's name) which provides .

How I live my faith

Currently I serve in my church by teaching a Sunday School class for adults. In 2017 I volunteered daily to aide the poor and needy in my community. Beginning in 2018 I will be serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church) in the northwest part of the United States. In the past I have worked as an adult Boy Scout Leader and in many capacities as an administrator of my local congregation. I try to make Jesus Christ the center of my life and treat people as he would have me.
