Hi I'm James

I'm from Washington, I'm a father of 6 children, I work in a high tech company, I love to be in the mountains, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I are high school sweethearts, we have 6 wonderful children, and we love to spend time with our kids, our extended family, and with each other doing fun outdoor activities like skiing, snowboarding, hiking, camping, and sightseeing. Our youngest daughter came to us through the wonderful gift of adoption after my wife’s cancer treatments ensured that we would conceive no more children. People have asked, “you already had 5, why would you adopt?” We just knew from feelings inspired from God that we had a spot in our family for another beautiful child and we just can’t imagine our life without her. We’re proud of each of our children and their various gifts and talents. My family is very musical (me ... not so much) and enjoy singing and performing. I’ve been a ‘groupie’ for years following my wife’s family band around, learning to dance from the 80yr. old+ crowd, and generally having fun. I’ve even been spotted with my daughters at Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) concerts! I’m a former athlete having competed at a pretty high level in baseball and I enjoy reliving my sports fantasies through golf, basketball, and anything else with a competitive/measurable outcome. I served a mission for my church in Philadelphia, PA and was assigned to the Spanish speaking people there – I love the Latino culture and the people and speak Spanish today whenever I can.

Why I am a Mormon

As a teenager living in the ‘Bible Belt’ south – Millington, TN was home for most of high school – I was around great, God-fearing, faithful people from many backgrounds. I wanted to know for myself what God’s will is for me and what faith he would have me follow. I read the Bible, the Book of Mormon, prayed and asked lots of questions. And I just felt a strong conviction in my heart that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has the fullness of Christ’s Gospel on the earth. And ... it just makes sense. God loves us, he wants us to return to him someday and so he’s provide Prophets just like he did in the Bible (makes sense), and he provides a way for our families (His family) to be together forever (makes sense too!).

How I live my faith

I try to be the best person I can be. Sometimes (often) I come up short but I feel the Father’s love for me in so many facets of my life that I have hope that I can improve. My family and I serve in our church and our community, most frequently working with the teenage youth – it is so fun! Most importantly, I just do all I can to be the best Husband and Father I can be.
