Hi I'm Barb

I love the Colorado outdoors. I'm a wife, mother and runner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Texas - and will always love my Texas roots! I now live in Colorado and enjoy being outside every chance I get. After graduating from college, I worked for several years as a construction project manager. After my husband and I had our first child, I left building big buildings to work on building something greater to me - our family. I am blessed to be the mother of two children. I love to run! Several years ago I started racing in marathons...and haven't quit yet. I love to race - whether it is a few miles, or several miles. I enjoy the process of setting a goal, pushing yourself towards it, and achieving it. Recently, I have added a few triathlons as well. When I run, it gives me a chance to ponder things. In the quiet of nature as you are running several miles in peace, great thoughts come to your mind. I am the race organizer of a kids race every year in our community. It is great to share your passion with children and see them experience the joy as well. I also organize a local community running club for children. I love to travel, spend time with my family, and experience all of the wonderful activities of life!

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon and having a knowledge of the gospel brings a peace and happiness into my life. I know that my life has a purpose. I know that I am a child of God. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and has a plan for me. Having this knowledge has made all of the difference in my life. I know that whatever hardships I have gone through - there was a reason for it. A greater reason that I might not understand at the time. During those times, I have felt the Lord's comfort, love and guidance in my life. I know that when I live the gospel - I am happy. There is a sense of peace and purpose that I haven't ever been able to find anywhere else. My testimony is something that I cherish and I know makes me who I am today.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith every day. One way is by following the example of Jesus Christ in serving others. As a wife and mother, I get the opportunity to perform acts of service daily for my family. As I help my children learn a new skill - shoe tying, bike riding, etc. - I get to experience the joy of helping them learn and master something new. I also have the wonderful opportunity of serving with the youth - young ladies ages 12 - 18 in our local ward congregation. I love being with them and seeing all of the wonderful experiences they have in their teenage years. As we learn gospel principles together and do fun activities together, we grow together. I experience the joy and love that comes from serving them. I also try to serve others in our community as well. By volunteering at the schools, serving in local community organizations, and helping to host local community events, I get to know others in our community as well. I experience the joy and happiness in the work that I do there. I am grateful for Jesus Christ and the life of service that he lived. I am grateful for the joy that I have experienced in my life as I try to follow His example.
