Hi I'm Evan J

I'm bald, a clean freak, a marathon runner and best of all I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am an IT Director for a large law firm and have lived in Colorado for the past 15 years. I grew up the oldest in my family and now have a family of my own. My 5 kids are growing up fast, which is making me feel old at times. My oldest son is an LDS missionary in California and the second oldest will be leaving soon to serve an LDS mission in Ghana. I am married to a beautiful woman and we will be celebrating our 223rd wedding anniversary this year. No one believes me the first time I tell them, but after dating my wife for 2 weeks I asked her to marry me. Oh, and she said, "yes"! I enjoy spending time with my family, serving others and I have a passion for running. Running gives me a way to relax mentally and clear my mind of all the daily stress that life can bring.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all my life! My parents took me to church every Sunday and were great examples to me of living the gospel. However, there came a time in my life when I needed to find out if what I was being taught at church and home was true or not. I knelt in prayer and asked Heavenly Father. The answer I received was not a booming voice or some grand event, instead it was a soft, but definite confirmation of yes. The only way I was going to know was to ask my Heavenly Father. When I turned 19, I served a church mission for two years in Asuncion, Paraguay and enjoyed teaching the gospel to all those who would listen. I came to love the people of Paraguay, and at the same time learned a great deal more about the gospel and myself. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I KNOW that this is Jesus Christ's true church and that Joseph Smith restored it here on the earth. I know the Book of Mormon is true, and along with the Bible we have two testaments of Jesus Christ and his teachings. I am grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ and the opportunity he has given me and my family to return and live with him someday. Life is not easy sometimes, but the gospel gives me hope and it gives my family hope. I am very blessed to have the gospel in my life and try my best to live Jesus Christ's teachings.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a Gospel Doctrine Instructor. I have served in various other callings over the years with the youth as well as the adults. I have enjoyed all my callings and the opportunities they have given me.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Evan J
Joseph Smith was a prophet of God as was Moses, Abraham etc.. While we respect him as the prophet who thru Jesus Christ restored the true gospel here on earth, we do not worship him. I believe in God and Jesus Christ - Jesus Christ is our Savior. Show more Show less
