Hi I'm Heather

I'm a native Californian. I'm living my dream of being a wife and a mother of four boys. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Some of my favorite hobbies are swimming, reading, and cooking. I also love to play the piano and enjoy singing in choirs. My favorite way to spend a summer afternoon would be on a blanket under a large shade tree with a good book. I like making new friends and I love watching my boys (who are ages 10 years to 6 months) grow and learn new things. As a family, we enjoy going to the beach, hiking, and spending time with grandparents and cousins who live nearby.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, and chose to be baptized when I was eight years old. Growing up, I had many opportunities to test the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have learned through experience that when I exercise faith and act upon a principle of the gospel that the Lord blesses me. I have also learned that He hears and answers prayers. As an adult, I have felt the love of Jesus Christ for me personally on multiple occasions. As I have at times struggled to fulfill my responsibilities, I have witnessed His love and mercy for others too, as He has taught and strengthened me specifically so that I might be His hands. All of the good things in my life have come through keeping the Lord's commandments. My life isn't perfect, but when I follow the Lord, I am able to handle my trials better and with a feeling of peace because of my faith in Him. I know that nothing surprises Him and that He has a plan for me and my family.

How I live my faith

My family keeps me very busy, but I also have responsibilities at church. I am the secretary of our congregation's organization for women. Our mission is to prepare women for the blessings of eternal life by helping them to increase their faith and personal righteousness, strengthen their families and homes, and to serve the Lord and His children. I love meeting with the women at church each week and the feeling of sisterhood and support that I feel there. I also accompany our ward choir. It's a small choir, ranging from 5-15 people, but we usually sing for the congregation once a month during our weekly Sacrament Meeting. I love the way that music touches the soul and enables the Holy Spirit to testify of truth. In addition, there are three women who I try to visit in their homes on a monthly basis. I am assigned to share a gospel lesson with each of them, but also to find ways to serve them and their families. I might babysit one of their children, run an errand, make a meal, or just provide a listening ear. I love doing this - I've gained some great friendships this way; friends I might not have made otherwise. Through my activity in the Mormon church, I have learned that providing a service for someone else is a sure way to make your own problems seem smaller, build a friendship, and serve the Lord.
