Hi I'm Gary

I'm a busy husband, father, brother, son and grandfather, enjoy family history, I'm a CPA, an Arizona native and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an Arizona native, married with 5 children and 10 grandchildren. I attended the Marriott School of Management at BYU where I graduated with a Bachelors & Masters degree in accounting. I served my mission in New Zealand. I am a CPA working in a CPA firm specializing in tax planning/consulting for closely held businesses and their owners. I particularly enjoy working with owners in the healthcare industry. I enjoy traveling to visit members of our family that are spread over the US. My favorite city to visit is Salt Lake City, Utah. I enjoy fussing around our home, working in the garden and the yard, reading and exploring family histories, listening to General Conference, walking with my wife, visiting family members, attending the temple, exploring great real estate and business deals and networking in the community. I enjoy giving back though mentoring and helping those who are in the early stages of their careers.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the blessing of being born into a family that were already members of the church. Three of my grandparent's families were members of the church for several generations. The fourth, my grandfather, joined the church when he came to Phoenix as a young man. He ended up marrying my grandmother who came from a strong LDS family. I grew up in a home where the principles of the gospel were taught and exemplified on a daily basis. I was encouraged (strongly) and given the opportunity to participate in the activities of the gospel and was blessed because of my membership in the church. I choose to participate in the early years of my life in family home evenings, family & personal scripture study and parayers, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Primary, YM/YW & Priesthood activities, seminary, institute and serving a mission. I obtained a testimony early in my life and on my missions it was significantly strengthened. I found the Book of Mormon to be one of the main sources for strengthening my testimony because of its teachings about Jesus Christ. After returning home from my mission I had the blessing of marrying one of Heavenly Father's choice daughters in the Temple. Through the Temple my life has been significantly enriched and my understanding of gospel principles deepened. Since then I have followed the same pattern with my own children in helping them to gain testimonies in their youth and desire to be blessed though-out their lives because of membership in his church. My testimony continues to be strengthened as I strive to be obedient to the commandments, follow the living prophets (I love general conference), reach out and serve my fellowmen, keep the covenants I have made with Heavenly Father and seek for the influence of the Holy Ghost in my life. I strive to remember those who have gone before and to live up to and be true to the legacy and examples they have left. I know that I can be a part of an eternal family through the blessings of the Temple.

How I live my faith

As a CPA I have the opportunity to be involved in the community at many different levels. I enjoy attending Chamber of Commerce functions, participating with various industry and economic development groups, being active with the professional organizations linked to my profession, serving on Boards of Directors for community organizations that are serving the communities in which I live. In my profession with my colleagues and clients and all of these other endeavors I try to set the example of being a Christian and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by standing up for integrity, for what is right, for the principles upon which our country was founded and for what I know to be true. Throughout my life I have had the opportunity to serve in my church in many different capacities. Most of the time it has been working with the youth of the church, which would include my own children. I found that to be very fulfilling, to see the strength of their character, their resolve to do what is right and to choose to stand up for what they believe. I have been camping, hiking, dancing, working, swimming, biking, acting, rapelling, water skiing, running and many other activities with them. I have also served in leadership positions wth the adults of the church, through teaching lessons, giving service, visiting members and nonmembers and keeping the records of the church. I have found that through living the gospel of Jesus Christ in my everyday life brings peace, happiness, fulfillment and an opportunity to reach out and help and serve others. I have seen this same result in the lives of other members of my family and other members of the church that I have served with.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Gary
The best way that I have experienced to build faith in Jesus Christ is to read the Book of Mormon and learn about who he is and the prophesies that were made by the prophets of old concerning his life and mission Show more Show less
