Hi I'm Amy

I'm your average American really. And I'm a photographer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a very passionate person. Passionate about life, and living it to it's fullest extent and exploring new directions. I just graduated college with a BFA in Photography and creating art is something that I am very passionate about. It helps me to realize things about myself that I didn't know I could do, and since this realization I want nothing more than to share that knowledge with any one I can. You can do anything you want and become anything in life that you really want, with hard work and with the help of a God who really does know you and wants you to achieve your goals just as much as you do.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons. I could say because I have always been one and don't know any other lifestyle because I was raised in the church. But if you know anything about life you know that there will be a time when you have to decide what you want and what will make you happy. For me, this is it. We all want to do great things and help other people, to become a worthwhile person in our ever decaying society, and being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints helps me to be that worthwhile person. It gives me reasons to keep living and helping people all around me. It helps me to see what I am capable of doing with my life because I know that I came to earth to do something great. I want to achieve that goal because I know that I have a Heavenly Father, (God), who cares for me and wants me to live with Him again someday. And I want that too.

How I live my faith

The best way that I live my faith is to live my life as a normal person and act on what I know. I know that prayer helps me to remember what I'm grateful for and that I can gain the help I need to achieve my goals. I know that as I serve people around me I can see and feel how much God loves them and me. I know that by reading scriptures everyday and going to church I can learn more about God and Jesus Christ, who they were and what my full potential is as a being of their decent. I try to live as they would live. But I'm definitely not perfect. I help older people in my area who need help with weeding or just need someone to talk to. I watch other's kids so they can have a mere hour to themselves. Sometimes I help teach children's classes on Sunday. I do what I can, as I live my life. I still do the ordinary day things, go to work, watch movies, eat enormous amounts of junk food, go to rodeos, and hike up mountains at all hours of the day and night...you know, things that your average American would do. But that is only half of what I'm up to on a day to day basis, because half of who I really am is who I am around and everyone that I meet.

What is the Book of Mormon?

It's a record about families. Families that try to live as God would want them too. It's a record about how God guided families to safety from destruction because he wanted to help preserve the truth about religion. The truth about who we are, where we came from, and where we are going after this life. It's another testament of Jesus Christ, and how He taught those families that He came to earth to save us because He truly does love all of us. Not just people in Jerusalem or in that part of the world, but everywhere. I know, even us sometimes crazy Americans, He loves us too. It's a record about prophets who teach about Christ, that He will, and did, come to pay the price, for all our sins. Prophets that are similar to the ones in the bible, just on different continents. Prophets that were rejected because, well, no one likes to hear that they are doing things wrong, even today. It's a record that teaches us that no matter how bad things may seem in our world today, we can have constant faith and hope that God will someday make things better. If not today, maybe tomorrow. If not tomorrow, maybe in the next life. But that happiness and hope of better things to come keep me moving forward and helps me to know that God is real, and he does listen. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

That He cares. That He wants you to be happy. That He really loves you because He knows who you are. We believe that God wants you to live with Him again. He wants you to live your life the best you can and know that He will help you so long as you are trying to do what is right. He wants you to talk to Him through prayer because He does answer prayers. Not the ones about winning the lottery or getting a new hybrid car, but the ones about wanting to have a better day because you failed a test, or the ones about wanting to find a way to help your friend who might have a terminal illness. If it matters to you, it matters to Him, no matter how ridiculous or reasonable it might be, it matters. Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Yes! Doesn't it make sense that Christ would visit all His people, not just the ones in Jeruselam? I mean come on, if he died for all of us, why wouldn't He? He is our brother, who loves us all without restrictions, so yes, he did come and visit everyone so that they too could see and know that he died for all of us that we might rely on Him to live again. I know it's true because when I read the Book of Mormon it makes sense to me. When I read that he came and taught the people in North America the same things that he taught the people in Jeruselam, I think, of course He would do that, I would do that. It feels right. The more I learn about it, the more it actually makes sense. So why not believe in something that makes sense...? Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

What do I believe about the Bible? I believe that it is God's word for us today. I I know that it is Holy Scripture and a place that I can turn to for answers to many of life's questions. It teaches me about Christ's ministry and how I can better my life by being more like Him. It teaches true principles. What I love to do most is to study the Bible with the Book of Mormon because they parallel each other in so many ways. I learn twice as much. The Bible is about prophets who taught God's word, the Book of Mormon teaches about prophets who taught God's word. The Bible talks about Christ coming to redeem the world, the Book of Mormon teaches the same things. What is interesting to me is that the Book of Mormon teaches about families who tried to live the principles that are written in the Bible, how that was a sacred record that those families had and tried to live by. I guess that interests me because it puts me in their shoes. So, yes. I believe the Bible to be the word of God and a Holy Scripture for our day. But who's to say that God doesn't want to give us more through the Book of Mormon also? Show more Show less
