Hi I'm Jody

I'm a wife, mother, and lawyer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and a mother of four children. I am educated as and practice as an attorney part-time. I also like to be involved in my children's schools and the community. My undergraduate degree is in Humanities and English and I love to experience and learn about art, music, architecture, and literature from many cultures.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a planner and I like to have a plan. Through the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have learned that our Heavenly Father is also a planner and he has a plan for us. Our time on earth is not random or by chance. We are on earth for a reason. We are spirit children of our Heavenly Father and we came to earth to receive a body and gain experience. While on this earth we can also form family relationships that are eternal and binding after death. Our Heavenly Father also has a plan for us after this life. Through the atoning sacrafice of our brother, Jesus Christ, we too can be resurrected and return to live with our Heavenly Father after we die. Knowing about this plan helps me to have an eternal perspective on life and to get through some of the hard times that this earthly life throws at us. It also helps me to try to have better relationships with my husband, children, and extended family members so that I can be with them forever. I am thankful for the knowledge I have of our Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness (as it is called in the scriptures) and for the comfort and direction it gives me in my life.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides an instant community of friends wherever a member travels or moves in the world. Having moved half-way across the United States twice in the last five years with my husband and young children and also moving to a new city all alone when I was in college, it has always been wonderful to go to church and immediately make friends and have a support system in a new place. It is also wonderful to have immediate opportunities to serve in the congregation and in the community. I have had numerous opportunities to work with children in the church and also with our women's organization in teaching, planning activities, and helping with music for our church services. Serving in the church has always helped me forget about the problems or struggles I might be having in my life and focus on others. I also enjoy working with other members in our church to serve community organizations to help those in need. I have particularly appreciated the opportunities I have had to help collect needed supplies and to serve at community organizations that help women and children. Our church is a church of service that works to embody the Savior's admonition to "love one another." John 15:12. Although I am certaintly far from perfect, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve others in the church and in the community to help me improve myself and the lives of those around me.
