Hi I'm Marcia

I am a Mom, a Grandma, a Quilter, and a Baker. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My favorite role in life is that of being a Mother, a Mom. For me, the role of Grandma is inseparably intertwined with being a Mom. I am also grateful to know that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me and has provided a Plan of Happiness for me. Besides being a Mom I so enjoy being a daughter, wife, cousin, aunt, and a friend. I enjoy all things quiet and beautiful. I enjoy sharing my talents and hobbies with other people. I love to sew and quilt. I enjoy baking and especially like to eat what I cook. I love to putter in my garden, but I am a fair weather gardener. I marvel at the flowers as they bloom and I do delight in a vegetable or berry that is ripe for the picking. Who can resist a blueberry pie fresh from the oven! I am incredible grateful for a beautiful world and the freedoms that I enjoy to become the person I want to be.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember the excitement I felt the first time I read about Joseph Smith and his First Vision as he met our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. I was in my teens and an older friend gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon and invited me to listen to missionary discussions at her home. Everything I read and heard rang true to me. I new there was a plan for me and I embraced the Gospel of Jesus Christ, although no one else in my family did. Living the gospel and being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has not always been easy for me. There are times when I have felt like it might be easier to fade away from the responsibilities I had assumed at baptism. I have often felt something like the disciples of Christ in the New Testament may have felt when doctrines were getting hard and many of them chose to “walk no more with Him”. At this point I hear Christ asking me, as he asked those disciples, “Will ye also go away?” Like Simon Peter I answer “to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.” (see John 6:66-69) Being a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives joy and direction to my life.

How I live my faith

As I live my faith I am trying to make Christ's attributes my attributes. As a naturally introverted person it is a constant struggle for me to reach out and be the people-oriented person as I believe Christ would want me to be. I enjoy studying the scriptures and teaching the Gospel. My husband and I currently teach a Sunday School class of teenagers between 14 and 16 years of age. They are a blessing to me as I see how they live what they know to be true. I also am strengthened as I visit women, Sisters, in our ward/congregation every month. This is an opportunity that each woman in the Church has. Along with a sister companion we are able to serve, teach and love a special group of ladies by assignment. As time passes we become dear friends as Christ is our dear friend. Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about learning to love and serve family and friends as Christ does.
