Hi I'm Tyler Whitcomb

I am from Portland, Oregon! I love to sing, play the ukulele, write music, poetry and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play rugby, football, basketball and most every other sport. I enjoy writing poetry, singing, playing the Ukulele and writing songs. I enjoy going to the movies and hanging out with friends. Laughter is my goal with every person I talk to. My family is the most important thing in my life and my big brother is an inspiration to me that I would never give up.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I was converted to the church when I was 18 years old and I am (at the moment) the only member of the church in my family. My whole conversion began when my best friend invited me to attend church with her and her family. I had never been a church goer and my family was never very religious so I had no objection to attending. I felt something that I hadn't felt before which ended up making my entire Sunday better. Church became an every week routine where I would go and sit with my friend's family. One night while we were hanging out together she asked me if I would like to take the missionary discussions at her home with her family. She explained what the missionary discussions were and so I gladly accepted. Every week I would go over for dinner and to have a lesson with the Sister missionaries. The lessons went really well and I enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the LDS faith. A few months later the Sisters invited me to take a tour of the Portland Temple grounds. I had never been there and so I was curious to see it and learn about it. While I was on the Temple grounds Heavenly Father gave me an answer to my prayers through the power of the Holy Ghost. The spirit of God testified to my heart that it was all true. About 6 months later, on January 16th, 2010 I was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving my Heavenly Father in every way I can and right now I am doing that by serving a mission in the Pocatello, Idaho mission for 2 years. After I get home I will continue to serve him and I pray that one day my family might be able to partake of the joy i have in my life by experiencing the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All people can experience this joy by reading from the Book of Mormon, pondering it's message in their hearts and praying to our Eternal Father in Heaven asking Him in the name of Christ if it is true. All those how accept this challenge and do so will receive an answer "by the power of the Holy Ghost..." (Moroni 10:, pg. 529). I bear my testimony to all the world that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and all will become happier by living the gospel of Jesus Christ which is shown in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Tyler Whitcomb
When the missionaries enter into a home for a lesson they will always discuss the doctrine of Christ. They will teach about the restoration of Christ's church on the earth, the Plan of Salvation and the Book of Mormon. The greatest knowledge that the missionaries have to know is how every person on this earth can come to know for themselves that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that He loves all of us with an infinite love.
