Hi I'm Phyllis

I've been married 32 years, have six children and eight grandchildren. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I married my high school sweetheart when we were both 19. We "grew up" together as life unfolded for us. We have been blessed with 6 beautiful children, 5 boys and 1 girl. Four of those kids are married and we now have 9 grandchildren. Our last two boys just left for college so now we are empty nesters. I love to make quilts and other fun gifts for my family. I love to read, especially the scriptures. I am part of a small exercise group and they are some of my very best friends. I get the greatest joy from being with my family (who are all very far away) and we Skype regularly with them.

Why I am a Mormon

The original reason that I looked into the church was the handsome boy I liked in high school, he was a Mormon. Through his example and testimony, I was baptized (by him). I was 17 years old. I married that boy when we were 19. I remember the first time I read the Book of Mormon I felt like it all made sense and I understood it. As a young child I read the Bible with a family we were friends with and didn't understand anything. Thankfully, I have had the opportunity to study and teach the Bible and the New Testament and now they too makes sense to me. I have loved that the church and it's members have taught me, through lessons and example, how to be a better wife, mother and disciple. I can't imagine going through this life without the guidance and direction the church has brought to my life.

How I live my faith

I love the youth! I teach an early morning class to the high school age kids. Sharing testimonies and learning together has been a truly rewarding experience. I have served in many other areas of the church and have learned and grown, but this assignment has been one of my very favorite. Every assignment or calling I have accepted (which has been every one extended to me) has been an opportunity to become a stronger and more successful mother and wife.
