Hi I'm Patty

I'm a Mormon, a wife and mother and I teach first grade! One of my favorite things in life is teaching children to read.

About Me

I like to find the adventures in life. I enjoy traveling and camping with my family as well as getting lost in a good book. Our family loves to watch football every fall, and basketball through the winter. I currently have three teen age children. That's an adventure in itself! They are growing to be wonderful people and I wouldn't trade my role as mother for anything in the world! I love to bake, especially braided cinnamon bread, brownies and chocolate chip cookies. I also fry up several hundred 'scones' or 'fry-bread' every year for the Halloween trick-or-treaters and their parents. Since I am trying to stay on the healthier side of life, I find I am baking less and less. I like to work out, and try to fit in some weight training a few times each week. Dancing is a love of mine, and I took adult ballet lessons for a while with my teen-age daughter. If life were a little less busy, my husband and I would go dancing alot more often. I enjoy my first graders and am always creating lessons for them.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in an integral part of my life. I can not imagine life without the gospel and the many, many blessings the Lord extends to me daily. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ with all of my heart and soul and look forward to the day when I can run and leap into His arms! He is my Savior in every sense of the word. I have expereinced so many tender mercies and received precious grace through the love of my Redeemer. The hope of a glorious resurrection and the promise of eternal life with all those I love keep me anchored and happy through the struggles of life. I love reading from the Bible, and the Book of Mormon, which also testifies of Christ. The words of those ancient prophets touch me so deeply. I am also filled with gratitude for a living prophet, who communicates directly with the Lord in order to give us guidance and direction in a very troubling world. All that I am I owe to the kindess and love of Heavenly Father, my brother Jesus Christ, and the beautiful knowlege of this gospel. My ancestors came to Utah from Denmark, Switzerland and England in the 1800's, mostly pulling hand-carts across the plains. I am so thankful for their sacrifice and honor them for listening to the missionaries and choosing to accept the gospel. Without their valiant faith I would not be living the life I enjoy today.

How I live my faith

I love attending church every Sunday. I am filled with peace and joy as I partake of the Lords's sacrament and ponder the grace that has been extended to me during the previous week. I sing with the choir, and even though I am not the strongest nor the best of singers, I treasure the chance to sing praises to the Lord. I enjoy teaching the adult women of the church in our Sunday meeting, and find great comfort and strength in the sisterhood we share. I also have opportunities to teach and plan/participate in activities with the young women of my congregation (12-18 years old). They are so much fun and full of life. I feel young and vibrant every time I am around them. Each Sunday, as I attend my meetings I feel myself renewed and envigorated for a new week. I feel the love and fellowship of my neighbors as well as a deep abiding peace in the knowledge that God knows me personally and loves me beyond measure, and that the atonement of Christ is in effect in my life.
