Hi I'm Al

I'm a Mormon. I joined the Church when I was 17 in California. I have lived in Colorado since 1970.

About Me

I joined the Church when I was 17 years old while living in California. I joined the U.S. Air Force when I was 19 and served as a medic in Colorado. After I left the military service I became a police officer. I have served in law enforcement for 38 years. I have a master's degree and teach academic undergraduate criminal justice classes part time. My wife and I have been married for 37 years. We were married in the Manti Temple in Manti, Utah. We have five children and 9 grandchildren. We enjoy hiking in the Rockies, Rockies baseball, classic movies, reading and serving as amateur radio operators in support of special events.

Why I am a Mormon

Before I found the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I wandered through various protestant demoninations but was troubled by all the doctrinal confusion I found. The truths I found in the Church convinced me that this was indeed the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus is the Christ and is the Son of God and is our Divine Redeemer. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His True Church.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings in the Church. A calling is a voluntary service opportunity in which we serve others without monetary compensation. One of my favorite callings was working with my wife for many years teaching a class of pre-school age children on Sunday. We may not have met many adults in the Church doing this but through their children we knew all about them.
