Hi I'm Emma Barton

I'm a student, lover of literature, and a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student studying English Literature. I have a passion for literature; I love the way it allows you to escape the world you live in and become part of the character's world. I believe that literature changes lives and that books should be read, shared, and cherished. I love learning, baking, poetry, and have a grand love for Jane Austen.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the church in a very strong community of Latter Day Saints. Growing up, church was always something that we did. As I matured, I came to know the truth of the gospel through my own personal study of the scriptures, church attendance, and participation in the church seminary and young women's programs. This summer, I had the opportunity to participate in the college program at Walt Disney World and my testimony grew even more than I thought it could. Living on the other side of the country from my family and being surround by people of all different faiths, I was able to share the gospel with others while reaffirming my own faith. This opportunity was truly an amazing opportunity for me to understand the reasons behind my faith and really learn why I'm a mormon. Through the hard times in Florida, I was able to learn more about my Heavenly Father's love for all his children. This love is one of my firm foundations in the gospel. Going to school, I've been able to strengthen my own testimony and learn more and more of the Lod's love for everyone. I've learned so many more things about the gospel that have created a true love and devotion to the gospel of Jesus Christ; I know without a shadow of a doubt that this is the true gospel of Christ and that it can change people's lives if they allow it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by looking on the bright side of life. I feel that one of the greatest blessings the gospel brings is happiness and hope in the future so, I try and spread that as much as I can. I believe that a smile can change a day and a kind word can truly change a life. By looking on the bright side of life, I find that even the gloomiest of moments can become bright through the love of our Heavenly Father.

What is the Relief Society?

Emma Barton
The Relief Society was established in 1842 and is now the world's largest women's organization. The Relief Society is for all women to help lift and strengthen one another through the hard times of life. This amazing organization aids in humanitarian work, aims to strengthen home and family, and help women grow spiritually and come closer to their Heavenly Father. One of the biggest blessings for me, personally, is the strength I find in women who share my same experiences and trials in life. There is such a strength in sharing testimony, trials, and happiness with a group of close-knit, loving women. Show more Show less
