Hi I'm Mandy

I'm a Physician Assistant in a rural Emergency Department. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the midwest and went to undergrad at a small liberal arts college in Iowa. After college I received a master's degree in public health, but then decided I wanted more direct interaction with patients. I completed my physician assistant degree at the University of Utah. My husband is also from the midwest and we returned here for him to attend law school. After spending a few years working in an ER in the city, I now work in a rural ER. I love my job and I love being able to use my skills to help people in need. I enjoy spending my free time with my husband. Thankfully we are both more than happy to spend a day working around the house and then relax and watch some TV or a movie.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family with generations of history in the church. However, like every member, I had to decide for myself if I believed in the teachings of our church. It took me a little longer than some - I was in my early 20's when I finally made it a priority to gain that knowlege for myself. I read the Book of Mormon and studied church history, but most importantly I prayed to know if what I had studied was true. I received then, and have received many times since, a confirmation by the Spirit that the gospel has been restored on the earth through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My belief it strengthened by the knowledge I have that Heavenly Father loves each of us and knows us personally.

How I live my faith

I am the first to admit that I still have a long way to go in fully living my faith! My human tendencies for pessimism and impatience still get the best of me at times. But self-improvement is a life-long process. I try to communicate with God through prayer; to show Him my gratitude and tell Him about my concerns and desires. I read scriptures, attend church and serve in our women's organization. I also try to see others as I know God sees them and serve them as He would.
