Hi I'm Curt

I grew up in a farm community in North Dakota and I run marathons. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with 3 children. I love the challenges and blessings of raising a family. I am fortunate to work for the largest railroad in America. I have served as a Big Brother and enjoy working with youth. I grew up in the farmlands of North Dakota of Norwegian heritage. I am an early riser who enjoys nothing more then an early morning run. Besides running marathons, I enjoy playing racquet ball and spending time with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Mormon church on my 28th birthday. At the time I was not searching for another church to join. I was attending another church and was very content. Then one day I met a new guy at work who was unique in a good sense. I liked the way he interacted with others. He didn't swear or drink. I liked the way he treated his wife. After a while I attended church with them and liked the warm feeling there also. After a while I had the missionaries start teaching me and after 9 months I joined the church. It has been a roller coaster ride ever since. Sometime after I met my wife and we were married in the Las Vegas temple for time and all eternity. Soon thereafter we had 3 children. The church has sure been a blessing in helping to raise our family. Joining the church and trying to follow our Savior has sure made me a better person.

How I live my faith

Since I have joined the Mormon church I have had many opportunities to serve. I have worked with Sudanese, Laotian and Spanish people. My son and I visit 4 families on a monthly basis and share a message with them. We also check on their welfare and spiritual well being. I try to regularly attend the temple to learn more about our Savior. I always feel revitalized after attending the temple. My current assignment in the church is working with the young men between 12 and 18. We study the scriptures together and plan activities that will help strengthen the youth. We also plan dances and parties. Once each summer we have a 2 or 3 day youth conference. I learn so much by serving with our youth. We try to help train them to later serve missions, become good husbands and fathers and become strong leaders. I also try to live my faith by being a good person. I try to pray, study and read my scriptures daily. I also try to be a friend to all people and treat them with respect.
