Hi I'm John

I'm just your average guy, trying to make it through life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love knowledge and learning, I can usually be found with my nose in a book. I also love to create, whether it's music or art or the written word, I love to do it. I also enjoyed the persuit of the martial arts and the dicipline contained therein. What I love more than any of that however, are the people that are closest to me, my family and friends that are close enough to be family. They've helped me through some hard times, including fighting off a depression that almost claimed my life. Now with a fresh outlook, I can look forward with hope for an ever brighter tomorrow.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon houshold, but that's not why I believe. When I was in High School, I struggled with a severe bought of depression, and was even suicidal. One day, a friend approached me with a book; The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I'd grown up reading it, but at my friend's insistance, I began really, intently, reading it. What I found changed my life. I had come to believe that God either wasn't there or He didn't really care about me. Through The Book of Mormon, I found the peace and solace I needed. Through the teachings it contained, I was able to be healed.

How I live my faith

I currently show my faith by serving as a full time missionary in the Virginia Richmond Mission, where I share the message that changed my life with all that will hear me.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

In the Holy Bible, James directs that "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God..." Our Heavenly Father is the source of all truth and cannot tell us a lie. When we have a question, we can excercise faith by turning to Him in heartfelt prayer. He will show us the way. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We center our worship on God the Eternal Father and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Prophet Joseph Smith was a man and a man only, but a man chosen by God just as Moses or Noah. We do not worship any of the Lord's prophets, but we give them our respect as they act as instruments in the Lord's hands for the salvation of mankind. Show more Show less

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

We believe that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained and sactioned by God for the rearing of families; that is how it has always been and always will be. We love all people as children of God, but we cannot stand idly by if they try to uphold and defend homosexual lifestyles or same-sex marriages. What is the Law of Chastity?

Simply put, The Law of Chastity is complete sexual absinince before marriage, and total fidelity to ones spouse within the bonds of a legal marriage. Those who live this commandment can feel the peace and comfort of self confidence and trust in their relationships. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Look around you. Gaze up at the night sky. Admire the complexity of nature. None of this could have existed without a God. No "big bang" could have resulted in this. Show more Show less
